try all of em on and decide for yourself. i have both of em and i loved the RX7 but i'm not sure i'd get another 1 cause they're too damn expensive. the xvent is alright but doesn't fit me quite as well especially around my ears.

I heard the RX7's were a bit noisy, cuz of all the venting...but it fits good. Gonna try on a X-Vent tomorrow, see how that fits...maybe, if they have any.

well you def. need earplugs if you get the RX7. it is pretty noisy. my ears were ringing after going triple digits. it helps to tuck yourself under the windscreen but earplugs really does the trick and will save your hearing.

I have 2 AGV's and both of those damn things are noisy as hell so I'm going for the arai signet series besides it's the only helmet so far I found that fits me right images/icons/smile.gif but the only problem is finding someone who carries a xxs images/icons/frown.gif to fit my damn head lol

One thing that might affect your decision a little bit... AGV is selling thier 2001 lids cheap, you can get an X-Vent from agv.com for under $250, my solid color blue one (the site says Yamaha Blue bit it matches my bike just fine images/icons/tongue.gif )was $240 shipped. I think the cheapest retail I've seen them is $400-ish. It seems a little heavier than the Arai and Shoei lids I've tried on but it fits nice. Haven't gotten a chance to try it out on a ride yet though.

Nothing beats the Arai helmets. But what it comes down to is what fits best. The RX7 and Signet both fit differently so you'll have to try them out. Most people prefer the RX7's fit wise. Plus the RX7 have the best vent systems.

Well, I went and tried on both of them....The Arai's are nice, fit really well. But I think I like the AGV X-Vent, it seemed to fit better and was told that it was a lil quieter than the Arai helmets. I guess it will come down to which one I can get a bette deal on. Thanks for the input fellas.

Just curious..have you tried a Arai Quantum/f..the Haga replica is prolly the fastest helmet made.... images/icons/grin.gif

Im considering a new lid myself and I am leaning towards the X-vent. Arai's fit well. I tried on a Signet a few days ago. However, I want a new lid cause of the weight of my HJC CL-12. I like the fit of the HJC, its just too heavy. My head starts to hurt after 2 plus hours of riding. the HJC is pretty quiet too. I don't want to increase the noise level by going to an Arai, unless I know that it at least as quiet as the HJC. How heavy is the X-vent and why doesn't Arai use flush mounted shields for God sake?

And yes the Arai is noiser, due to the venting..but it's much more comfy...and no they don't have feet, but mine has some fast ass wheels under it..haha.. images/icons/grin.gif

I also agree the Haga rep is the fastest lid out there images/icons/wink.gif

And, my CL-12 grew a lot too-its too big for me now but fit great when I bought it. And, any helmet is loud, that is why you wear ear plugs-no helmet is quiet enough to not hurt your hearing in the long run images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/grin.gif

I've had the HJC Symax, Arai Quantum F, Shoei RF700 and now RX7RR4.

The RX7RR4 is a little louder then my HJC was.Plus you can change the padding to get it to fit better.

The Quantum F was the quietest, I have had so far. Didn't fit as well as I liked it though.

If you are going for the quietest, personally I would lean towards a Quantum F or a Shoei RF 900.

Well I would have to be biased and say go with the X-vent...I recently got the Q3 pro Rossi Replica from the online AGV store and payed $260 bucks to my door which includes a clear and iridium shield, breath deflector, and of course helmet bag. They retail for 350 and up without the free shield and breath deflector...It is pretty quiet and the lining is cool max (tm), really nice and on the x-Vent they are removable so you can clean them and stuff, you might want to check out the Q3 pro too, has tons of ventilation and is just as good as the x-vent if you ask me...as far as quality, protection, price, and extra goodies go...AGV is the best bet around right now.

Shoei XSP-II, nicest helmet I've ever had. Far superior in quality than any helmet on the market. IMO

I'd go with either the Arai or Shoie, I tried both when I was looking and ended up getting the Arai, just seemed to fit better, very comfortable, but it is kinda loud, I've heard alot of negative things about AGV, I actually wanted one at first because of the rossi rep design, but was just tooo tight, must have a fat head:)

Just have to get what seems best for you, none of them are really comfortable at first, until the foam molds to your mellon. If you can swing it get one thats nice and light XP-2 or R4, light is good.

One thing I really like about the arai was the snap button for the chin strap, my friend got a shoie and its got some weird clip system which is a bitch to get on (at least for me) it's the little things right images/icons/smile.gif

Oh if you get a arai try to work in some deal for a dark tint shield, they're great for those bright summer days (I think shoie comes with one, at least xp-2)

Oh one more thing the arai shield is a bit of a bitch to get on/off the first couple of times (shoie is really easy), don't let someone who thinks they know what they are doing but doesn't really just "pull" it off, there are little tabs on either side that release it, I know this sounds dumb but it happened to me at the dealer were I bought it, makes ya wonder about these "experts"

Check out these prices..

GP Star (http://www.gpstar.net)

I just bought a Shoei X-tec from somewhere else and paid 55 bucks more images/icons/mad.gif Even though that was still 144 off list. They have killer deals on Shoeis and Arais. Check em out. Go to closeout, then helmets.

Arai rules but get what fits you best. And like it has been said before the Haga rep is the fastest helmet made. I read it in an article once. yeah that's it and aritcle, uh huh. images/icons/cool.gif

I have the Arai RX7-RR4 Harada replica and love it. Living in Las Vegas the extra venting is worth the wind noise, especially during the summer. I wear ear plugs so I don't really notice the wind noise anymore. Probably more importantly, don't buy the brand, buy the one that fits.

Everyone is gonna say get the brand they have for one reason, or another..but in the end..YOU have to wear, and be protected by it...so, as long as it's a good quality brand..and if it's the helmet that fits YOU best..buy it... images/icons/grin.gif

Right on. I should be whatever fits you best. Even if you decide on an Arai, the RX7 may not fit you as well as the Quantum. Likewise with the Shoei. Maybe you should also state how much you're willing to pay for a helmet. Some other good alternatives hitting the market right now are the Suomy's. Something to consider. images/icons/shocked.gif

Arai quantum/f is a great lid.

The rx7 is great if you race. The vents don't work to well under 80mph.

The difference between the signet and quantum is only the fit. The signet is designed for "european" shaped heads. More of an oval when viewed from the side. The quantum fits rounder heads.

No experience with the Agv.

The most important thing is fit. Make sure that the helmet fits TOO tightly all aroumd. It should be slightly-uncomfortable for the first few rides while the padding breaks in.

They all have similar crash ratings. The difference in price is due to: name, weight, finish.

But, I would never chance my head to a cheap lid!

GoodLuck

Dude,
I just bought an Arai RX-7. I love it. I was wearing a Shoei rf900 and I hated it. Loud, fit wrong, and the visor mechanism sucked. Try on an Arai. It's what sold me. The only down fall is price but if you look around you can get a deal. I originally found the helmet I bought for $700. I ended up paying $484.
Good Luck!
