You'll have to forgive my stupidity but I'm new to the game. Just got a K5 600 and was wondering what I have to get to lower my bike and where to get it.

First you got to ask yourself: Is it needed? By lowering a bike you sacrifice handling and ground clearance, both of which are some of the main advantages to a sport bike. If you can touch the ground on it, it's fine, you don't have to flat foot. If you need to move it backwards, get off the bike and pull it.

If it's still too tall for you, I'd take some padding out of the seat before messing with steering geometry: Remove the seat, take out the staples on the back and remove the cover, shape the foam with a sharp knife and then re-staple the cover.

In case you still want to mess with geometry, you need different links connecting the rear shock to the swingarm, several of the site sponsors have them. To install them, you need to lift the rear of the bike in a way that unloads the swingarm, then swap the links.

Then drop the front the same amount by loosening the bolts that clamp around the fork legs and move the legs up - with the front supported, of course...

I didn't realize that lowering the bike made the turning harder. I know, I'm a rookie. That's why I'm here asking the questoins. Your're probably right. I don't need to flat foot it. It'll just take me a little practice backing up. Thanks.

Ok, I dont want to start a fight, but here is my opinion on this idea.....

I own an 04 Gixxer, its slammed, I notice NO difference what so ever.... I do suspension work and performance work everyday. No one has ever complained about a lowered bike, steering so shitty that they felt they couldnt handle it... To some people its almost unnoticeable. For the track i wouldnt recommend it, for the street, hell yes, ride comfortably, dont go fucking up your what 150 dollar seat.... You can always put the bike back to stock, you cant just add your seat back that you cut out.
