: I got my Sidi boots.....but can't shift with them!
Leonardo629 01-03-2002, 06:14 PM I received my Sidi Vertebra 2 boots from Todd yesterday....
Impression:
the finish of my new Italian boots is top notch....quality is second to none, no complaints what so ever...
the fit is so right that I couldn't belive it myself. The toe profile is a bit more pointier than say..Alpinestar, but the Alpines just don't fit my foot that well, they are either a tad too big or a tad too small, but the Sidis fit my foot like they were designed specifically for my foot!!! Yay!
oh yeah...the adjustable calf system is just way too cool, you can just unscrew the securing screws, and adjust the "vertebra amour" part of the boot to fit your calf....a real nice feature
now...here's the problem, right after I put my boots on, I went and sat on my gix (on a rear stand)...and I tried to shift...guess what? my foot just couldn't touch the shift lever..I have to sorta stick my toes inward toward the bike in order to "touch" the lever...anyone else with this problem when they wear their racing boots???

srainey 01-03-2002, 06:19 PM I had the same problem with em(My Buddies)Thats why I havent bought any yet,I need some feedback too!
suzukiltd 01-03-2002, 06:25 PM Do they just need to be worn in? I didn't have that problem with my alpinestars. They were stiff but not that stiff.
wolf1127 01-03-2002, 06:35 PM I have the same boots.No problem at all!!!

HouseDJ 01-03-2002, 06:55 PM sounds like they just need to be broken in....wear them around the house images/icons/smile.gif
never again 01-03-2002, 06:55 PM HI LENNY,
If they are a size 13 send 'um to me and I will dedicate this season to getting them good and broken in for you.If not, adjust your shift lever.
Jeff
gixxerjasen 01-03-2002, 07:13 PM Yea, adjust your lever. Also, take a small screwdriver and tighten up every screw on those boots. Seems like everyone I know that has those boots, me included, has lost a screw the first few days of riding. Guess they don't torque em up from the factory. Sucks to ride along with your toe slider hanging by one screw.
Also, don't know about the 2 version, but if your gonna do any walking around the track/poser hanghout, get some insoles cause they don't have the best support, after all, they are riding boots.

Jared 01-03-2002, 07:30 PM I just bought some AGV Sport boot's and I have the same problem. I thought it was just because they were not broken in. The shift lever adjusts? Thanks Jeff......I guess I'm a dumb ass.
never again 01-03-2002, 09:09 PM Jared,You're not a dumb ass;I'm a smart ass.
(Everyone likes a tight ass,no one likes a smart ass)
Anyway, grab the 10mm wrench and loosen the two nuts securring the shift rod linkage.Be carefull! The one closest to your peg is a left hand thread.Push down to loosen on both. Now adjust till your foot is comfortable shifting in either direction.(Up and down)Retighten and Go for a ride.It will probably take a couple tries to get it right. You'll know when you get it right! Now stop patting yourself on the back and adjust the brake pedal so it is just under your foot(but not on)

thanks yall!!! images/icons/grin.gif
SloDuc 01-06-2002, 09:08 PM I had the same problem with my Teknics when I bought them. Wear them around the house for a day or two and they'll loosen up. Once you get them broke in you'll absolutely love them.
smurf 01-06-2002, 09:20 PM Got mine for my b-day last weekend and tried them out on friday and had know problem with them except with reaching the ground after stopping. Can't tip-toe
Crash-A-Lot 01-07-2002, 11:39 PM One thing you may want to do is loosen the bottom buckle a little. If you have the boots buckled up too tight they don't allow the boot to flex right. I had the same problem on their MX boots.
They'll losen up a little after break-in but the buckles made the biggest improvement.
Leonardo629 01-10-2002, 03:29 AM okay...been riding with my Vert 2 boots for couple days now....I can say that I really really like the feel of them..
the shifting has improved a bit...the solid shift pad makes shifting much easier than when I wore my conventional boots...A+++
