Speedo Fix
courtesy of Armand R.Duco, Esquire ducoar@re-co.com
If your speedometer is bouncing slightly / oscillating this might fix the problem:
1) Remove the left side lower faring.
2) Remove the two screws holding the radiator overflow tank. These screws also hold the idle cable/screw mount and some wires. Let the overflow tank and wires hang below the bike and out of the way. Complete removal is not necessary.
3) Remove the allen screw holding the sensor into the left side sprocket/engine cover..(#1)
4) Remove the cover bolts marked by the X's.

5) You may wish to mark the shaft and linkage (#2) before removal. Remove the shift linkage by completely removing 10mm bolt (#2A). This will allow the linkage to slide off the shaft. Allow the linkage (#2B) to hang below the bike and out of the way.

6) You may be able to determine if your sending unit is loose by spinning it through the pickup hole (#3). Mine was very loose and spun freely.
7) Remove the black plastic collar from the shifter shaft (#4)

8) Allow the cover to hang by the clutch cable (#5).
9) Check the metal sending unit (#6) and the inside of the cover for damage. Minor scratches should not affect operation. Major damage may be a warranty issue.

10) Tighten allen bolt (#7) holding sending unit to sprocket counter shaft. (13 Newton-Meters) Use Locktite™ if available..

11) Replace all parts and panels.
