I want to put nitrous on my 02' 600. GSXR
15 hp shot and no more than that. (Yeah, I hear you, 15hp..lol..Not for long, you go up.)
I have heard/read athe FI System on the GSXR will automaticly al fule, so will a dry system work.
But I will just keep it at 15. This is partly for show, also because no one around here seems to be doing it. Will this be too much for my bike, I wont run it every time I'm out.
And will I need my computer remapped?
I currently have a Micron Exhaust, +4 in rear, and was mapped with a Yosh. Box.
I think he said he, set it to run a little leaner in some part of the band, Mid I think.
I can have him remap it to stock. No problem.
And any advice to what kit.
Please speak with knowledge, and experience.
I want to keep this engine, it runs good. And a new engine is Expensive

i used a MPS dry setup running a 40 shot on a stock map, i talked to ryan schintz about it and he said that it would be fine running a stock map with anything under a 40 shot once you go over 40 though you have to start retarding your timing. i have alot of fun with mine just don't do what i did and tap the rev limiter with the nitrous it is kinda expensive to replace pistons ($450) not to mention the gaskets and bearings. lol... i think that the mps is pretty good though.

Save your money, with a nitrous set up youll eventually blow it up after time.

Yeah, Thanks for the answer. I am now not going to do it.
I had the bike remapped....again.
And they told me race fuel will not help it one bit...That's what I have been running.

And it seems to run even better.
now I'm not going to do it.

Thanks any way.
I appreciate it alot.

If the system is set up right , you shouldn't have any problem with it, especially with only a 15 hp shot. The systems that are not set right are the ones that blow you motor up.

i think youre problem is you need to stop listening to everyone else. race fuel dosnt do anything if you dont need it. and i have nitrous on my 01 gsxr 600 and i havent blown anything up with a "30" shot. but i dont trust the factory ecu to compensate for the nitrous.

if the nitrous is properly setup and you are not running lean when spraying it will not cause any pre-mature wear on the motor or its components. You can safely add up to like 33% more hp than the stock motor puts out. So if your bike makes 99 hp then adding 33 more hp would be the most i would go. I bought a wideband commander so i can measure my A/F ratio and get a map setup perfectly so that when i spray the A/F ratio will be about 13.1 . The wideband was about 440 bucks and you have to have someone weld a bung in your exhaust to mount the O2 sensor but other than that this is a really useful tool because you can put it on every car you own and its basically universal. I have tuned my bike off nitrous and i have gained almost 2 tens of a second in the quarter mile from last year since my fuel map was so messed up.

Again, do some reading on the internet about dry nitrous setups and you'll find out they are pretty reliable if done properly.

Bud- said it perfect.

Much of the speculation on N20 systems is from people who have little or absolutely no experience with them. A motor set up for it properly will not have any issues from the N20.

I would like to add that with the dry system like MPS (what i have) the size shot.....20,25,30, etc will not yield that high of a gain. Ive done several runs on the dyno and fooled with my system while i had a 28 shot i gained about 15hp across the entire 6k-redline. So adding a small 15hp (if even made) would not really yield much more than a full exhaust and PC would to your bike.

I would say go for it! They are fun and not too expensive. The 28 or 32 shot you should be okay with out having to remap anything. But....... If you have a exhaust on your bike you should have a tad of fuel added to your top end at 80-100 throttle anyhow.....and that will just help your N20 system make power, and run safe and clear of lean. Anything above the 32 shot i would suggest adding 2-4% fuel up top.

I have had my system on for over a year on my 750 streetbike and have had zero problems......well other than out accelerating larger bikes http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

With the 15hp a 30 shot would give you, your 600 would accelerate just as quick as a 750 with no N20....maybe even quicker because of the characteristics of the N20.

Just don't spray in 1'st and be light on it in 2nd or you will be airborne!!!

Have fun.

If you guys used my system, which is plug and play, you would definitely get the advertised amount of nitrous.
Our Gsxr-600 system will put out about 30-40 bhp.
No wires to splice.
no harness to dice.
Can see the throttle position sensor and gear position sensor, so there are no buttons to push. (as long as you dont want any to push)
Set it for the gear you want it to activate in.
Once 100% throttle and the gear you set it for is reached, the nitrous begins to flow, and the extra fuel is added through the stock fuel injection.
All you have to make sure is that the bike is pointed in the right direction.
