Hey fellas,

Willing to drive some distance to find a good tuner (if I have to). I'm in the NW burbs of Chicago and the only place I've found so far is 4&6 racing but they won't do powercommanders (selling their own units), plus they're kind of snobby, over-priced sluts. I need a place where I can go to do before and after dyno runs, and probably a custom map. Hopefully someone who has the latest equipment and NO inflated HP #'s. Is there such a place in my area or do I have to go far? SE Wisconsin and NW Indiana would work too. Any help appreciated, thanks.

go to schnitz, ryan does awesome work. he should only be 2 or 3 hours away for you. i have not heard of anyone complaining about his work.

This is honestly only 2-3 hours away from Chicago? Might be worth the trip. Except I'd need to be there for a bit for a before dyno run, quickly put on pc and slip on and do another run. Then shell out the extra $$$ for a full dyno tune.

Anyone else out there or is this the only/best option?

Thanks for responding..

sorry it might be a bit farther, closer 4 hours. ryan wont mind if you do those changes to the bike in between. there is alot of people that drive farther than that to have him tune there bike.

ryan is as good as you will find in this area, although I have 01 & 04 1000 and had them both tuned @ Chicago Performance . I never had any problems and didn't cost me a fortune. Goodluck!!!

just had my k5 mapped at schnitz and am very happy with it. great service with no complaints here. call them up and talk to them and tell thwm what you are wanting to do. set the time and go. they have worked with me at odd times to get dyno tuning done. i drive about 3.5 hours to the shop. worth the drive.

Anyone hear of Flo-Tec located on the Markham IL (basically the S. Side of Chicago, 155th and Pulaski)? I've heard they do good work.

This is the place to go for the northwest suburbs - BAR NONE - in my opinion. Easy to get to, local.

How much did you spend there and what did you have done if you don’t mind me asking. I just called there and the guy said that the bike may need to be dropped off for the entire day and you can’t wait while they dyno it. He quoted anywhere between $130-$190.

This place is very close and very convenient for me, would be ideal.... I have the same questions as above, why leave it there for a "before" dyno run? Do you get torque values? Seems a bit expensive unless it's for custom mapping and I don't like the idea of leaving the bike there.

Just to clarify, the price I was quoted was for custom mapping, not just a few runs.

Well then that's a good price for sure. My only problem is that I will not leave my bike to get it dyno tuned. If I can't be there it ain't happening, don't care who's doing it.

I would take it to MD Racing mdracingstp.com
An authorised tuning center, and one of the Nation's first tuning centers
They are located in MW Illinois outside the Quad Cities ( 2 1/2 hours from chicago )

The price for a custom map, using tuning link from dynojet is $175.00 and can be done while you wait. (309) 526-3246

Ask for Matt

That sounds good. Some friends of mine who ride w/ NESBA on a regular basis were just telling me about Matt Drucker, had nothing but good things to say about him. I was actually up at the races at Blackhawk this past weekend watching and he was racing up there. I'll definately give him a call. I just picked up a trailer so taking out to the Western part of the State won't be bad at all. The "while you wait" part is big for me, I cannot and will not leave my bike anywhere unless there's absolutely no other way.

Thanks for chiming in, another good vote for MDR racing. I'm so anal it's very difficult for me to find someone I can trust. Maybe he could even help me pick out the best pipe for my k5... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
