I have an alarm and immobiliser. This has to remain connected to keep the insurance company happy. The problem that I have got is it drains the battery whilst in storage over winter. My idea is to hook up a couple of flying leads from the battery so I can charge it in situ. Will it be OK to do this? Will I damage the battery or the bikes electrics? I am using a bog standard chrager at present. Ideally I would like to leave the charger connected permanently. Would this be possible? Would I need a special trickle charger to do this? Any help would be appreciated.

Get a battery tender, it will keep the battery charged.

Or any similar low amperage/fully automatic charger.
