: HELP!!!!! Can't get stator rotor off....help !!!!
Tru Texan 03-23-2005, 10:05 AM Someone please help me, I can't get the stator rotor off....oh yeah, I also need help with the stator cover, I heard that the bolts are supposed to go back on in a certain way, something about the ones with the washers or something like that. By the way, its a '97 gsxr 750 http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif
WebCrush 03-24-2005, 05:57 AM a special tool is required to remove the rotor. it reverse threads in and acts as a puller to remove it
Tru Texan 03-24-2005, 08:25 AM any idea where I can get this special tool/puller from? Wish I could rig a steering wheel puller to it or something....
WebCrush 03-24-2005, 10:42 AM Suzuki only part. You can order the tool from Suzuki. I usually just borrow it from a friendly engine builder or just bring the engine down myself.
The tool is small, the size of a 30mm socket.
Tru Texan 03-24-2005, 11:12 AM cool, i'm gonna head to the zuk shop tomorrow and see what I can do. The guys in the zuk shop up here are a bunch of d@#kheads, but I'll still give it a try...thankx..
For the '96 on SRADs,
Suzuki Part Number 09930-30450, $17.02 @ Ron Ayers
K&L Part number 35-5937, about half the Suzuki price, check with your local dealer.
K&L gets them from DS Sales, Part Number MP7, not sure where they are, I just get them from K&L.
This is the puller nut. There is also a rotor holder, but I've never had a rattle gun on the puller nut fail to get the rotor off or strip the threads.
Tru Texan 03-25-2005, 06:19 AM well, I went to the suzuki shop, and they said they'd take it off for $65....so I'm really trying to avoid that...they are some dickheads out here in E. Texas, but there is one cool cat that works in parts....so .I'm gonna see if he can order something for me. If anybody knows anything else, please keep the ideas coming....Thanks WEBCRUSH, AND MrMW
gixxer601 03-25-2005, 08:35 AM just because the mechanics have to get paid for the time they spend dosnt make them dickheads
Motion Pro makes rotor pullers, also for Suzuki - cheaper that OEM. Try googling that
Tru Texan 03-25-2005, 01:52 PM I have no problem with them gettin paid for their work. But their labor charge is somthing likd $45 and hour....I already have the stator cover, and the stator off, and it will take less than 5 minutes to use the puller and pull the flywheel off. So why is it that they are charging me $65 for a job that won't take 5 mins? Even if I had left all of the other parts on there, it still wouldn't take more than an hour to replace, so y is it more than what their HOURLY labor charge is? On top of that, I have a friend that goes up there and borrows lil tools or will take his bike to them to get lil things done here and there, for a small fee, if charged at all. Oh yeah, they also have put a nail in my tire while "test driving" it ( and my friend works across the street and saw the mechanic doing burnouts and riding wheels all down the street on it...he called me cuz he thought I had sold the bike, and I said, no it's at the shop being worked on...he says..."well, it's been sitting here for 3 days and all I ever see the mechanic do is wheelies and burnouts on it....u'll probably need some fork seals with the way he's slamming it when u get it back" which I did end up having to replac at another shop) And when I got my bike back, I had to change the oil b/c their mechanic forgot to put some screws back in my carbs, which ended up flooding out the whole bike to where gas was pouring out of it after riding it for 5 mins... They didn't want to pay for the oil change ( and the other mechanic even said, or for the brand new michelin pilot tire,( wouldn't plug it or anything, but I've watched them plug/patch tires for free all the time) They never fixed the problem I took it up there for, but they still wanted me to pay them, and they used my bike to joyride on....Therefore, they are a bunch of DICKHEADS!!!!
senfitty 03-27-2005, 05:13 PM Getting paid for your work is one thing, but jacking people for more than your work is worth is another. Sounds like true_texan_t is justified in his opinion.
Tru Texan 03-29-2005, 10:47 AM Ok, the bike is flywheel is winning 2-1.....THE PULLER FAILED, THE THREADS STRIPPED OUT!!! Now what?
