I need some help, I finally got a chance to get out and do some riding, and I noticed that the front end felt odd in a few cornering situations. I can't really explain why it felt odd, I just know that it didn't feel the same as is used to, now it's kind of shaky feeling in some corners.
Bike has 17,000 + miles, never down, never wrecked. As for tires, they're Michelin Pilot Race
M2's. Today, I stripped the front end down some to do some measuring to see if it was something obvious. And I did find a few things that have me worried.

First thing I noticed was the front fender has cracked on the left rear mount (as you look at the bike standing in front of it) also the left leg is about a 1/2 inch longer / lower than the right. it also pulls down very easily (goes 2 inches plus) and kind of locks every once in a while while compressing, but other times it will click then go up with normal resistance while on the stand. The right leg is much harder to pull down and will not go more than about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch.

Anyone with a clue as to what happened and how ugly of a repair bill am I looking at?

sounds like you need a rebuild.I would recommend taking them to a reputable suspension guy.A revalve thru my guy is aboud $200 w/ new springs. www.roadracinghelp.com (http://www.roadracinghelp.com)

Sounds like it may have broken a spring or spacer. I would have it checked before riding again. We charge $150 plus parts, usualy just seals and oil, for a complete tear down. Don't forget you get a 10% GDC discount on all fork work. Call me if you have any questions.
