I must be doing something wrong...I've got several pages on how to do this stuff, but I'm having trouble getting my 1000 intake cam into my '02 750. I must be missing something because the problem is coming about when I have to get the dial indicator on the retainer to measure lift in relation to crank rotation. WHERE DO YOU MOUNT THE DAMN THING SO IT'S ON THE RETAINER? I've got no room whatsoever to get the pointer parralell to the valve stem. I've spent way too long on this and am starting to get aggrivated. I've done a search, but I can only go back 1 month on posts (a lot of help there). I've looked all over the internet and haven't been able to find anything productive. I would really appreciate a "Timing for Dummies" how to or if someone has pics of their process and could post them. It's 78 degrees today and I'm extremely sad. Please help?!?

You just need the dail indicator inline with the bucket . You are going to have to make up a small bent pointer to get past the cam lobe to sit on the bucket . Mine is almost like a hockey stick shape on the end . Search for posts by stam , I think he had a bunch of decent pics to see .
