: LEDs IN PASSENGER PEGS...
premiumtommy 03-03-2005, 07:10 AM I didn't take a pic of me drilling holes because if you don't know how to do that, than you shouldn't undertake this project by yourself...I also can't tell you what materials other than LEDs, resistors and wire, you are going to need because it depends on the size of leds, color, yada yada..
here is a website that will aid in your project. It will tell you what size resistors you will need depending on everything you choose to do. http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/components/led.htm
Just so you know, I chose to put 4 LEDs on top (yellow) for turns. They were 1.8-2.2v apiece and I used a 150 ohm resistor in line. I also have 3 LEDs (red) for the brakes on the bottom. They were also 1.8-2.2v but i had to use a 220 ohm resistor in line for those.
IN NO WAY DO I TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOU UNDERTAKING THIS PROJECT YOURSELF. IF YOU DON'T THINK YOU CAN DO IT, ASK SOMEONE YOU KNOW THAT MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU..
I also am not a photographer, so please bare with me in the pics..
this first pic is of the LEDs installed in the holes and soldered to the wires.. The red wire will be spliced to the blinkers/brakes and connects to the resistor. Then it is positive to negative to positive to negative to black wire and then to a ground. I chose to common ground the 2 sets of colors since it save me on wire and time splicing stuff..I believe i used awg 20 wire.
premiumtommy 03-03-2005, 07:10 AM another pic of the same thing
premiumtommy 03-03-2005, 07:13 AM here is a pic of the finished product, minus some clear caulk to weratherproof everything..the zip tie is just to hold the wires taught prior to caulking..i aslo wrapped the wires in black tape to just make it look neater..
premiumtommy 03-03-2005, 07:14 AM here is a pic of the brakes on...i know the color didn't do too good..but when you are standing there, BRIGHT as hell
premiumtommy 03-03-2005, 07:15 AM here is a pic of the turnsignals..this was all just rigged up so you can see the lights on...
premiumtommy 03-03-2005, 07:16 AM and here is apic of all the lights on at the same time...
premiumtommy 03-03-2005, 07:18 AM please disregard all the crap hanging off the back of the bike near the rear brakelights. I need to pass inspection so i had to rig a plate holder w/ turns and reflectors and a plate light. Well it might look like total ASS, but the dmv is going to sign off so I don't care..
any questions please ask and I will see if i can answer them..
IROC GSXR 03-03-2005, 07:28 AM looks good, how long did this project take/cost. Ive been thinking about doing it to my bike. Good job
premiumtommy 03-03-2005, 08:43 AM Thank you
A bag of LED's (25) i got off ebay for $5.01, needed 2 diff colors. And the resistors were $1 for 5 at radio shack. The wire I had. So $12.02 was the final cost....Oh, don't forget my skills<----PRICELESS..
oh and it took about 2.5 hours...i took my time and was watching a movie..The caulk is drying as i type...And add another 5-15 min for final hookup....
Can any body knows where I can get a set of this alredy done? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/burnout.gif
premiumtommy 03-03-2005, 12:08 PM guy does them on ebay for $40...but he does 5 lights of same color...you send him your brackets and he sends you ones w/ lights...
I f any one find them on e-bay please let me know.
Thanks.

i thought that 220ohms for 3 red leds is only for 9v supply??i have seen the website u produce and the resistor u use is the same as the website but the example is using a 9v supply...whereas our bikei s using 12v supply...does it still works fine??

Cool just name the price. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
premiumtommy 03-06-2005, 05:19 AM suzusky..
The example on the web page was using 15ma leds on a 9v system.I used 30ma leds on a 12 v system...different calculations but same resistor size...

vpogv 03-08-2005, 05:33 AM Any clue what the MCD rating is for both, the red and yellow/orange LEDs? Seems like the highest I can find are 3000-4000mcd.
ky02'1000 03-09-2005, 03:59 AM sure Lino.......i just saw a set on ebay last night!!!! they were for the new gixxers too, so thats you!!!! oh......lol.....they cost $150.00!! But if PremiumTommy did it, it would be PRICELESS! J/k
premiumtommy 03-10-2005, 01:53 AM lol at ky93gsxr750...
vpogv....i have 5000mcd leds from ebay and they are plenty bright even during the day....

Awesome, thank you! 5mm?
how much is it to get this done to a 01 gsxr 1k?
ky02'1000 03-10-2005, 12:08 PM i saw a set of 10000 white leds on ebay, figured i could blind the honda's i race....lol
ksgixxer 03-11-2005, 01:46 PM Looks good. The insides of mine did not turn out as good I didn't cut the wires on the LED's so it made it hard to get it all tucked up in there. Just to lazy to redo them. I used 270 Ohm resistors and LED bulbs(2.1V/20mA/1900mcd). I have all the part numbers for radio shack for all the items needed.
ksgixxer 03-11-2005, 01:56 PM Passenger Peg Blinkers
Supplies needed:
4packs - LED bulbs(2.1V/20mA/1900mcd) RadioShack part #276-351
2packs - LED holders(black snap-in) RadioShack part #276-079
1pack - 270-Ohm Resistors RadioShack part #271-1112
Clear silicon(Windshielf silicon is good)
TOTAL PRICE $15.00.
Not trying to jack your post or anything.

Personally if you are going to use these are your only rear blinkers don't go with radio shack LEDs they are not bright at all in addition to being overpriced http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
