I'm going to Louden this year. First time on a track. I weigh about 250 no gear on a stock '02 1000. I have never played with the suspension. I've heard that these bikes are not set up for someone of my weight. Is it possible to even get the sag set right with the stock components? If not what would you guys suggest I do with the suspension to get it right. Revalving, new fork springs etc, I heard GMD can rebuild and respring the stock rear shock or Am I getting into buying aftermarket suspension? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If its your first time just go out there and have fun, dont worry about your suspension settings. You need to learn riding on the track first, once you get comfortable and want to shave time then you start playing with the suspension. So save your money and put it towards track time and tires.
You can have all the nice gadgets on the bike but if you cant ride that well its not going to do you any good.

No you wont get the sag and damping right with stock suspension. That said you have a lot to learn your first day so if you have the time and money, yes absolutly get it done first. You will have more fun and one less worry. If not I will be at NHIS for all the LRRS events and a lot of track days so you can always come to Garage 19C and I'll be glad to he;p you dial in what you've got and give some idea about what can be done to get it better and how much it will cost. FYI GDC members get 10% off all services and to kick off Penske's new line of piggy back shock I'm giving 15% off the $1170 retail until the end of march. Feel free to call any time with any questions

I agree with the first comment. If it is your first day just go out there to learn. Once you feel you are pushing quite a bit then start to dicker with your suspension. I have been riding 25 years and just recently started track days and must say that after I had done a few I started pushing harder. Then my tires started to slide. Got the suspension guy to dial it in and huge difference. Learn your bike and the track first then push it.
