i read a review on my K1 750
suzuki claim 141 bhp
the review said.
121.8bhp at the wheel.
with a PC and Yoshimura system and BMC air filter,
torque – 56 ft lb
didn`t say how much bhp it would make extra with
the ram air.

it didn`t say how much the engine made,
i dont know what loss you lose through the chain/sprockets etc.

i read the new 05 gixxer will make 178bhp
but how much will it make on a dyno?

just wish they would print the real bhp and not the hyped up salesmans pitch>?

Roughly speaking, transmission losses are about 12%. So take that off claimed 141bhp and yours is about right. Of course you cant really replicate the effects of ram air on a dyno.

i know for a fact because i work for a dealer that a 2000-2003 gsxr750 is 138hp is what the title says which is at the crank and ive seen in person on an 87 degree weather day that those typically put 121-125hp at the rear wheel. what im confused about is that suzuki doesnt claim anymore hp with ram air. for instance a 2004-2005 r1 is 172 at the crank then yamaha says 180hp with ram air well they put less power to the wheel then a k5gsxr1000 that is claimed at 175.5 crank hp on the title. but in reality crushes a r1 on the dyno.? another thing is that a 2004 2005 zx10 is like 174hp on the title and rated 184 with ram air when a k51000 is 175.5 & beats that on a dyno also so its like is a new 1000 gsxr 176hp plus say 10 hp for ram air ? i think its all a bunch of horseshit marketing but id honestly say suzuki is more realistic about there numbers than the other companys are for sure!

Well the yamaha and kawi numbers are sure good for a laugh. I always used to ask guys if they wanted their 180hp R1 to get its ass spanked by a 150 hp 03 gsxr 1000. Never got any takers. They always had excuses not to race.
All 04-05 r1's and 04-05 zx10's I have seen dyno have been 144-150hp. The same as a 03-04 gsxr 1000. 05-06 gsxr 1000's make about 155-160hp.
We were in las vegas at the end of last year and some guy was shooting off on how his 04 1000 made 182 hp with just a pipe. That is what the dealer told him it would make. My buddy walked up to him and told him his 152hp 02 gsxr 1000 that makes 175hp with nitrous would work his 04 gsxr 1000. They raced and the 02 1000 ran a 9.5 at 147 and the 182hp 03 ran a 10.4 at 138.
