I just returned from Trackday and I had a nice and wet crash. Not to get into detail about the crash but to the actual problem. I laid my bike down on a corner and we both went into the water at the end of the track. The bike was submerged almost half way on the right side. Once I got the bike back into the pit, we drained all the water out of the exhaust system and was going to make an attempt to burn the rest of it out. But the bike now won't start. It makes a clicking noise when I try to start it. It is getting power, but the engine won't turn. At first we thought the battery might have gotten screwed up, so we switched out batteries, but it just made a clicking noise when we tried to start it. Could it be that the ECU is shot and needs replacing?

Does anyone have any idea on what the problem could be? Thanks.

I don't know how much water got down into the exhaust but it sounds to me like you may have taken some water into the cylinders through the exhaust. This would explain why it doest turn over, the starter may also click because its trying to turn the engine over but it cannot compress the water thus its kicking back on itself (this may be the clicking that you are hearing).

***NOTE*** you may want to unhook your coils before performing the next step.

Pull all of the spark plugs and turn the engine over with the starter to blow any water out of the cylinders through the sprak plug holes. If water does blow out you can either replace the plugs or take some WD-40 and spray onto the tip of plugs themselves and then reinstall the plugs. This is actually what WD was made for, W (water) D (Displacement) 40 (attempt 40).

With the plugs reinstalled try to fire it again and hopefully you got the problem solved. It may be wise to change your tranny oil even though you may not see any water through the sight glass. Hope this helped. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

HYDROLOCK-----------you hydroliced the cylinders.............
you need to tear it down and check rods, bearins, maybe some rings stuck in the ring lands.
