I have already removed 750 engine due to engine failure. I have acquired a 02' 1000 engine. I would like to know from somebody that has done the swap what all I will need. Also how did the swap work out. Any help wolud be much appreciated.
Which year 750? There's a thread in the '96-'99 forum for that generation...

check my reply to the 1000 in the 03 600 frame swap on this board. follow that info and you will have no problems. the motor mounts that you will have to make is gonna be a little tougher cuz the holes are closer on the 750 vs the 1k but it can still be done. i welded plates to the 1k motor and drilled them to line up with the 600 motor mounts. then just used bolts/ nuts to hold it in place. works fine for me.

OR........... you could by the proper machined mounts to slide that puppy in the correct place without any grinding, welding, or custom fitting on your part...........
you need to got to Hybridracing.ca (http://www.hybridracing.ca/Products/Custom.asp) <---- clicky clicky, and send jon an email about your problem
he can set you up and have that bike screaming as fast as the mail will get the parts there.......... he helped me with my telefonica 600 and now i'm riding with a 1k

The hybrid racing brackets work great. I had an 02 1000 motor in my 2000 750 frame without any problems at all. Everything lined up and work the 1st time.

wow that is a nice telefonica.
http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif that was my first bike.
2002 gix 600 telefonica. I miss her. I had to sell her on ebay for $4300. She slid down the road on her left side from a highside. It was all plastic damage but she and i went through a lot of hard miles trying to figure each other out. a 1k motor would of been crazy.
what swing arm are you using? plus is it really needed to use the larger cc bike's swing arm?

im still running my stock 600 swing arm and its working fine. the 750/1K arm is stronger and they are pretty cheap on ebay. i thought about going with the hybridracing mounts, but with him not showing pictures of what you get i went ahead and made my own in about 15 minutes. i like to see what im getting before i send someone that much $$$. that way i know if its a rip-off or not, ive been screwed before with a kit for like $60 that would have cost me $3 at a hardware store. he also used to charge like $100 when he first started making them.... now its up to $240.

They were never at $100 ever...started off at $240 usd shipped plus they are CNC machined for the 750 mounts and require no cutting/welding for the 750 frame. Lee's was charging $350 usd plus shipping and not even cnc machined http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Does the 1000 plug into the 750 harness/comp?

YOU HAVE TO USE THE 1K HARNESS, ecu, and motor all together.
gimsta----> i'm using a 750 swinger.......... everything is getting powder coated black right now........ i'll post up some more when it gets done
also......... those mounts you are talking about have always been $240.......... and you can't beat that price for the quality you are recieving

musta been the 600 to 1K mounts that started out at $100. i know its easier to make them for the 600 than the 750 cuz of the extra space. MY BAD maybe you guys havent been around the site long enough to see when he was sellin them cheaper like a year ago. i never said they arent worth the $$$. just that it can be done for ALOT less and still be strong.

When you guys say that he needs to use the 1k engine, ECU and wiring harness, does that mean he'll have to also get the speedo/tach as well?
I'm considering putting a 1k motor into my 2002 750. However, I'm just makin' sure I get all the parts actually needed to do the swap. I would hate to go out and get the motor, ECU and wiring harness, try and hook everything up and then find out it won't plug into my current speedo/tach and clipon switches, etc... Then I can't use the bike until I go out and find a set of all that stuff.
So, I guess part of the question is...what all does he need to complete his swap? Is it ONLY the actual motor, ECU and wiring harness (is there a separate harness for just the engine and one for the rest (lights, speedo, etc...), or is it just one complete harness that runs the entire bike?) or do you need to get a lot of other things as well? (like the switches, speedo/tach, rear tail light, etc...)

the lights and stuff are all interchangable, when i did mine i forgot the tack/speedo so i just used my 600 tack for a while and just put tape over what i did not need on the face.
