I have noticed that my 02 Gixxer 750... Wont start unless I open the throttle. I feel like the automatic choke on the EFI is'nt working right. When I do start the bike and its cold the idle is so low (around 1250rpm) it just shuts off, then I have to start it up again. When the bike warms up, run fine. Its just sucks to start.... Has this problem ever happened to any body else? I really wanna fix it my self. Any help would be appreciated

raise your idle to about 1400 if it isn't there.
besides that it could just be cause its cold, a TRE, or a pipe, will lower the rpm's

Well this problem was even when the temp. was warmer. I guess I was just use to the way my Honda or yamaha started. The idle would just go up to 2000 rpm then just lower to an idle when the bike warmed up. My bike did that before, but now just idle... The bike is stock except for a Micron slip on.

my 1000 does the same thing but only when she has to sit outside at the fire department on a cold night, mine will also die as soon as you touch the throttle i took it to suzuki and they replaced a sensor and adjusted the idle it will still do it sometimes out of the blue, I know if i leave the tre on when the bikes cold it doesn't like all the timing. good luck call your local dealer and ask the service guy what he thinks.... Good Luck

Hey do you remember which sensor they replaced, On your 1000?

My 02 1000 does the same thing. Only has about 14k miles on it, and It's always from what I can remember taken 2 starts to get it started, and almost always requires a little throttle as of late. If I try to start it with no throttle whatsoever, it takes more times to start it (3+), and longer starter button pushes...
This last tank I put some fuel injector cleaner in because the problem was getting worse and worse, and so far that's helped a bit, but the tank isn't finished yet.
The TPS sensor can be off causing it start bad, the valves could be mistimed, the injectors could be clogged, the battery could be bad (cranking amps), improperly installed sparkplugs, lots of things that could be causing it.
Now one thing that I didn't know that one of you mentioned was that the installation of a TRE could have this effect on the bike? I've had a nikko g-pack on my bike for almost the lifetime of the motorcycle, as well as a bolt on pipe. But the bike was tuned on a dyno so I don't know how much that would be a factor.
If anyone has more info on this it would be appreciated....Im trying to get my bike to start on one try...

On th e02sa there is a thing called the fast idle switch ( I am unsure what is it called I don't have the manual infront of me) It is the screw that looks just like the one you use to adjust your idle and it sits right next to it to. That probably needs to be adjusted.

What should the fast idle speed be?

when do I adjust it? When I start the bike?
