You can run pod filters without a jet kit with stock 34mm carbs with a little fiddling if you cant quite stretch to that stage 3 dynojet kit just yet. But the kit is recommended in the long run.
Remove and discard the airbox (HOOOOW restrictive!)
Take off carbs, set needles to the most raised position (clips in the bottom clip), set idle mixture screws to 4 turns out.
refit carbs and fit pod filters.
start the bike and adjust your idle speed.
run it for a while and check your plugs, adjust the idle mix accordingly. I had to adjust the screws up to 1/2 a turn and each was slightly different per carb.
