Does anybody out there know what it takes to start a legit bike club?

a bunch or riders who all want to commit to a name, and actually have meets, become friends, and dont want to hang out with anyone else....

good luck.

That's about it. We attempted to start one in the mid 90's, but then we got to many people in it and quite a few crashed and died. They also did stupid shit like busting wheelies in a pack of 40 strong, taking out 4 other bikes. So, I gave that up and now ride alone or maybe with 1 or 2 CLOSE friends that know how to ride. When starting a club, keep in mind you have to balance the number of members with the number of unknown idiots you let in. Good luck.

exactly... I have riden with SoCal riders a couple of times...
That was a couple times too many. Stoppies every stop sign, wheelies down the middle of the freeway, had the whole freeway to ourselves... 50+ bikes will do that...
Then by the end of the day, the cops finally broke that up... had like ten guys get picked off one by one being pulled over.

I realized I don't need this shit. Just ride with friends, unfortunately all my street friends no longer ride street. You get older, priorites change... etc. etc. I'm the only one that still rides. We all ride dirt though.

If any of you guys want to hook up for a ride once in a while, I'd be up for that.

i wouldnt mind being in a bike club, but i cant devote every reason i do somthing to a club. not to be selfish, i mean i think it'd be cool to roll over to a buddy's house and park my bike next to a bunch of my friends bikes, where i know they are safe, walk into a house full of dudes that i respect and respect me, one of em tosses e a beer as i head towards the kitchen to grab some grub then sit down and play a ps2 game with them, then we call some girls over nad have a party, but it's not like that anymore....

nowadays, you meet some people that ride, they are into their shit, have their priorities, no one wants their house taken over, there's always someone everyone dis-likes, and then shit starts to unravel from there. it just aint the good old days anymore. plus cops start recognizing your "symbol" even if it is a peace sign, and start labeling you as a group, and one bad egg can ruin the image of the rest of you, you'd have to be so selective it just wouldnt be fun, might as well start a fraternity....

but like crash said, i am down to ride with any of you fuggers.... just hit me up

I probably know dviii, just dont realize it. Sounds like you were hangin out with the same crowd I was. That scenario you thought was cool only exists in movies. I don't have the time to devote either, too many kids and a wife that's incredibly lazy. I'm already gettin my ass chewed for going to the bike show tomorrow. Such is life. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif

So what I'm hearing is that alot of people would like to get together, as long as we can keep the idiots out?

Then what's stopping us from hooking up somewhere and just ride out? I'm in Barstow and I need an excuse to get outta this area!!! I'm looking to start (or try to start) a club. Maybe not really a club, but just something so that guys or gals can hang out, ride and have a good time.

Let's put some plans in motion and make it happen!!!!!!

Anybody with me?

hey fellas.. readin the posts... We have a group you may be interested in.. We are all a wide variety of riders.. from 19 yearold newbies to the 40 year old seasoned vets... we all are family oriented and have members in the service.. Two up in rosamond.. who just got back from Iraq.. and one going.. We also have three members in the Marines in San diego.. who ride palomar but also make the trek to Los angeles once a week for our bike nights.. or once a month for our monthly meetings.. Nothing is mandatory,, we have no dues.. you ride when you can.. and we have proven to be there for each other in the thick and thin.. We love riding.. we also have events..bbq's.. bday parties.. We are all equal.. there is no president or hirearchy.. no one in charge.. We are closeknit.. tight group.. stunters.. canyon riders.. street .. and newbees.. No idiots here.. we have stunt spots and pride ourselves in watching out for other riders on every ride.. safety first.. We welcome sane riders.. .. check us out...

I was stationed in barstow.. and know what u mean about getting away.. There should still be guys on Fort Irwin riding to the Crest on sundays.. feel free to drop by the site.. and say hello.. Good luck fellas...

well thats the beauty of it.. to have the family always there.. when you have time...

by the way.. I ETS'd.. and will be working with a civilian contractor who frequents the barstow area.. including ft irwin.. Spo ia maybe in the area.. Id love to go riding with the guys on base again.. I used to roll with the guys who rode, who were in 11CAV.. i was in the NTC BN.. and worked as the NCOIC at the reception center for a while...

maybe we'll see ya around.. usually we rode on sundays and would meet at the 24 hr shoppette at 0600 or 7.. roll dwn ft irwin road to the 15.. or old 38.. the back way to victorville...and hit the back side of the crest (hwy 2) towards newcomes...

keep one up
