How is the stock ingnition on 88 750's? Should I replace the coils/wires? Ignition advancer? If so, what brand, and where? I'm starting to get itchy. It's been 6 months almost.

the old gsxr's seem to have a reputation for eating coils....and the stockers are pretty expensive. i replaced the stockers with dynas and they worked beautifully.

only downside is that the dynas are substantially larger than the stock units so they won't be a direct bolt-on replacement, you'll need to get a bit creative with mounting them.

on the upside, the dynas take conventional automotive ignition wires which go right into the coils and the other ends screw right into the stock suzuki spark plug boots. and you can get a pair of dynas for about the price of one stock suzuki coil....

there are other choices as well.....in fact, any dual output 3 ohm primary 15k-25k ohm secondary (i think) coil will work.

i wouldn't buy them expecting any tangible performance increases, though (as they like to claim)......they're just very well priced alternatives to the stock items.

regarding ignition advancers, the 86-87 750's liked 4-5 degrees of advance....not sure about the 88 but i'd expect 3-4 degrees to sound about right.

factory pro tuning sells adjustable advancers which you might want to look into.

As always, thank you for your insight. If you ever buy a Vmax, I can return the favor!

Local shop wanted $82 a piece for mine

images/icons/shocked.gif I'll rebuild them myself for that price.
