'86 750

It had a yoshi when I got it (frame/motor) but since the front end was punched the steering damper on it hoovers oil, so I never put it back on or replaced it. I assume they shouldn't leak? images/icons/wink.gif

Just curious, what it is supposed to add performance wise? I don't have any shudders or control problems when cornering. Should I consider seeing if its ok, replace it outright or just leave it as is?

it doesn't really add anything performancewise, but it'll help keep the front end under control.

these older bikes with longer wheelbases and less steep steering geometry don't tend to need dampers as much as newer bikes, but even then, i've been able to get a nasty tankslapper or two on an '86 without a damper (accelerating hard out of bumpy turns).

some people don't bother to put one on until after they've had a nasty tankslapper (which they may or may not have been able to recover from), but then it might be too late.

personally, i wouldn't own a bike without one.

I agree with Jeff dude. I took mine off my 90' 1100 and got into a bit of a slapper last week!
