Well, here's a great little break down.
the bike is 01 600
pcIII
Yoshi rs3 carbon oval
04 1k headers.
-1,+2 520 chain
this spring i pulled: 98.6hp 49.1torque (this was without pcIII,or the 1k headers)
Just got back from another pull: 95.2hp 41.8torque (pcIII and 1k headers)
Pretty sad lost nearly 4hp and 8fpt. But Damnit is SOUNDS SOOOOO GOOD~!!~

What's the A/F ratio look like? Could be where you lost out at. And what CTH said, "Same Dyno?"?

yep same dyno!
as for the a/f its nearly perfect uptop but alittle lean on the bottom end.

they told me the bike,
A: has no back pressure do to the 1k headers no torque.
B: Because of the over sized heads it has no Vortex affect to help draw out the exhaust no hp.

Btw did i say anything about how Sweet it sound thou? omg! Its just the sweetest sound~!~
But i dont wanna lose 5hp and 8fpt.

thanks... just thought id share.

this is why when you try to make your own custom pipes you think your making HP. but the companys that spend tons of money dont now what their doing right. LOL. what you should do is get rid of the 1k headers and run the stock head pipe. or if your not into spending alot of money for a complet system look into the Hindle setup. they are cheaper then other systems and you can pick and choose the type of muffler you want. for under 700 bucks.

the R&D actually stands for something... i commend you for trying something new but i could have told you from basic physics that with all the loss of backpressure your going to lose HP bottom end if anything you may see a little top end but in this case you ended up losing hp...

also you might have lost hp for a number of other reasons... high miles gsxr motors end up needing rebuilds, rings, pistons etc... so how many miles do you have now..

Good point on the Mileage, but 4500 miles sense the first dyno isnt much..

The bike now does have 35,000 miles on the od now..(the last 15k on the od is with the new chain and sprocket swap -1+2). but i know that doesnt change the wear on the motor.

Compression check still with in OEM stats, so valves and rings still tight~!~ I was hoping to Hit 40k before my warrenty ended (March '05).

Planning on remapping the PcIII tonight to riching up the bottom end. Thou i dont think i'll do another dyno till i rebuild the motor.
I plan on keeping the 1k headers till the motor rebuild, but the power is SOOOO much smoother now with just a slight lag under 6k rpms. Before i mounted up the 1k headers i scaled em and then the stock 6hundos. i saved 2.7lbs.

ps.. A friend just reminded me the first dyno was on a rear 207 with 9.5k miles on it. and the last dyno was pushin a 208, with 1500miles on it.. so that might have alittle to do with it...

Harry 35K and your complaining you only lost about 5Hp... bro consider youself luckey... these gsxr motors will last for ever granted you take care of them but they will need to be rebuilt around 30k if you ride hard and even sooner if you race.. ive seen a few bikes at the dyno, compression within spec around 195 across all 4 cylinders... low but still within spec the bike runs perfect but still time for a rebuild the guy lost about 9hp... 28k on the motor...

its not the headers that made you lose HP is the miles and motor... headers will reduce back pressure and lose HP bottom end but you will see gains top end... this tuner doesnt know what he's talking about if he says you lost 4ph b/c of the headers... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Hey dont get me wrong, with my mileage i liked my numbers~!~.. i know im Way overdue for a rebuild! it just kinda suprised me to have lost that much power after only 4500miles..

Did i say yet how much I LOVE THE NEW rap she's got now... Damn its a SWEET SOUND~!~ http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif

I totally agree I love the sound that I have on my 600 with my 03 1000 headers and my RS3 oval bolt on. Do have a question though, what do you use for a map on your PC, do you have a custom one? I have a BMC air filter and TRE also, I'm running the map for a full yosh and it is doing better than it did without, but I still would like to find a better map without having to pay for it myself. Anyone got some help?

Still playing with my mapping... just got off the dyno and pulled a 97.2hp and 47.3fpt.
Didnt have time to burn a new map, plus the shop that i pull on the dyno are 1k freaks and dont like loggin time with a 6hundo. Oh well.
I know there is more in there.. i'll find it.. Next pull im burning a map. i'll share it when its done..
As for the map.. ive been playing with a Hindle full race...
The big diff. was im running 105 octane so the power is alot higher rpm range

good luck
