: just when i thought i knew everything....
spongebob 10-26-2004, 12:18 PM can someone tell me why racing fuel turns yer
exhaust tip grey??
mine runs black, my brothers runs light grey..
he was running some high octane fuel from
a gas statio in temecula..it was like 105 or higher !!
is there any damage that can be done running that stuff??
it sure smells good..
he said he had a 1/2 & 1/2 mixture of standard gas and this
higher octane shit..
jaedee 10-26-2004, 12:32 PM One word....LEAD. No Cat (or O2 sensor), no problem. Put that shit in a late model car and yer askin for trouble.
John95 10-26-2004, 12:57 PM Not sure why it burns grey. I have to agree, i love the way it smells!!
gsxr750 10-27-2004, 09:11 AM The only damage that can be done is to your wallet. Don't waste your money, buy colonge if you like the way things smell.

VP is cologne for my bike and it's damn expensive. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I know it was a waste, but I ran low at the track and the smell is great for the couple weeks it slowly gets diluted in my tank.
Jon T. Flesh 10-27-2004, 11:30 AM Yeah I am done with pump gas. I get a hardon in the morning when my bike is warming up with race fuel in her. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
In my race class the instructor said you can tell how your bike's jetting is by the color of the tip on the exhaust when using race fuel. I can't remember what the differnt colors ment though...
spongebob 10-27-2004, 12:08 PM well find out !! ive always been under the impression that the color of
the tip is invenerial..because by the time the exhaust gets to the tip..in thin aftermarket exhaust system it could cool enough to make the tip black..
im thinking that if the tip is light grey..what the feck is the temp at the valves..but maybe color and temp are not related..i love the smell, i run casterbean oil in my two strokes...
hopefully someone with the know how will respond...
like i said earlier, my bro ran a 1/2 & 1/2 mixture and had a clean looking tip..

What bike? Efi or carbs?
If I'm correct the grey color is from a lack of all the bullshit street gas has in it to pasify the tree huggers. Like detergents and shit. I'll keep looking.
turbodogs02 10-27-2004, 05:42 PM Granted the smell of the stuff is delightful, but don't you have to have your bike mapped to take advantage of the fuel to make any noticable difference? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

my brother has a 02 gsxr-750..all stock except for a shortened can..
NJ_GSXR_1K 10-28-2004, 02:02 AM What kind of race gas are you guys talking about? I've used VP C12 and that smells ok. Not that different just more pleasant. Also, my stock exhaust tip turned grey too. Bone stock GSXR 1000.
BTW, Nutec smells horrible.
wizard racing 10-28-2004, 02:05 AM you can read your exaust just like a spark plug. black is rich white is lean. grey is nice http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif
a lean motor is faster than rich (of course with limitations) but also runs hotter. We have always said bone white is right! But we are just looking for fast not for longevitivity
to get full use of your race gas money you should have your bike mapped with the type gas you are using
Jon T. Flesh 10-28-2004, 12:05 PM Wizard is a wiz.
I am running a mix of 50/50 VP C12 and U4
They said since my bike is carbed and not modded to shit the mix would keep me from running out of wack air/fuel wise.
I definatly can tell there is an increased throttle response with race fuel compared to pump gas NTM the bike really really loves it http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
