that's cool. I wonder how it knows to deploy? I would hate to hit a pot hole and all of a sudden I'm wearing a mattress.

Although its cool, it doenst look like it was designed by a rider. For one reason.
I dont think its the impackt witht the ground that is the problem, and you're generaly sliding. (unless you hit head first, in which case, that still does nothing). Its striking objects in the slide (curbs, cars, poles, and guardrails, that is the pronlem. There wil be enough force exerted through a 4" sign pole to push through that an into your body...
Im sure more models will be designed before they're comercialy available....

Yea it doesn't look too effective but it's good to know money is being spent on rider safety development.

Agreed... it's the little skinny metal things sticking up on the side of the road that scare me most... and those little thingies would cut right through that air bag...

Didnt the doctor tell you 1) dont talk about your prostetic penis here and 2) you dont need a condom for a prostetic penis?

I think that is more dangerous then good. Imagine your doing 120 mph in a hard curve and you wipe out, last thing you want is to get into a ball shape. That will make you toss and turn and break limbs etc. Your better off sliding off the speed with a good set of leathers.

BMW made something similar for the bike to deploy an air bag. Was it successful? well, they were still in the process of figuring out what is "danger" and what is safe. I like the concept of air bag for protection but air bag on bike can be tricky. Very difficult topic to solve and whoever solves it will make millions from regular riders to racers.

There are so many elements to look at and so many elements that isn't able to be incorporate into one design... so i'm interested in finding out what comes of the air bag itself for motorcycle.

but is this design effective? Nope. but good approach tho http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

If the military ground safety folks see this it wouldn't surprise me if they make it mandatory.

I agree. Hopefully soon one of the major manufactures of leathers and riding gear will incorporate a fully effective system like that into their jackets, pants, and leathers. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
