NO air filter at all ?!
This must be a track-only bike ... if not, please tell me you put a filter on when you ride it on the street.

If your getting a 1.6 with a stock 600 then your not using a street tire.. are you using the shinko or mcr2 .... this makes no sense, you say your using every trick in the book yet you didnt state any tricks when you said what all is done to the bike.. best way to keep people from calling you out is to state everything you have done.. its easier to believe that way...

The first time i took her to the track it was fun cuz even though i was granny launching ( i had never even tried launching hard before! ). i was beating everyone at the track. i was quite surprised at the 2 r6s running 121-124 mph. there was a http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/squid.gif riding an o4 r1 that coudn't keep the front wheel down that was running 11.80s http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I dont think many 600 people know where to shift these puppies.. before the mods it wouldnt't pull very hard past 13k rpms but i still hit the limiter every time. People are misinformed that its pointless to rev that high. its not. even you are past your peak HP Point if you compare the power it is generating at redline vs the rpms the engine would be at at the next shift... its still greater..... well in most cases anyways. was true in mine.

shifting the 03 stock at 14k rpms = 122 mph
shifting at 14.5 ( limiter ) = 125-6 mph

after mods i tried the same... at 14k rpms = 126-7 mph
shifting at limiter.. = 129-130 mph
http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

i was happy as hell though.. my first run ever with the 600 was an 11.6 @ 123 i was freaking out cuz that meant it was way slower than my car.. which ran 11.5 @ 127 on 19" pirelli street tires.. LOL http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif

forrestang

Are u sure you're bouncing off the limiter? Cause every time I hit the limiter, the time slip defenitely suffers. It almost seems like u could simulate hitting the rev limiter by down shifting from 4th to third while being in redline in 4th(not that drastic though).

Bouncing off the limiter always kills time.

gixxerguy77
09-07-2004, 07:56 AM
I assure you if you it the rev limiter your times and speed will suffer.. there is a mathmatical way of figuring the correct shiftpoint that works of of pounds of Thrust, takes torque, tranny gearing and final drive gearing all into consideration.. i think there was an article about it 6-8 months ago it a mag.. i ll see if i can find it..

Well,I've seen what Members done with the Guy with the 600 with the wheelie bar!!!!!!

And I don't care if anyone CALLS ME OUT!! LOL!!

And Your right..Most 600 are not that fast and most riders are good but there are better..I'am far from the best rider..But I do Ok for My weight,I've been racing for MANY YEARS!!

To answer some of Your ?s

HP??Don't know?I Never dynoed it..I wanted to get a power commander first
Stock OEM tire so far..Will go better with a sticky tire for sure!
60 lbs or more in the front tire
Run the most PSI in the rear before loosing traction
Pry rear brake pads away from the rotor
Don't run chain too tight
Don't run rear axle bolt too tight either! I run Mine pretty loose,But make sure you have a cotter pin in it!!
Cut the rubber axle seals away from the axle
Lube the chain well and axles were it meets the bearings before every pass
Run minimal gas enough for 1 or 2 runs(I've only run it on Pump gas so far)Will go better with Ultimate 4,MR-9 Nu-tech ect!!
Take off any un-needed items,Rear pegs/brackets,mirrors ect.

Theres a few more??..I have to think!!A buddie of Mine was running in the 9.6 zone all year on His 1Giggy,I said Do You want Me to put the 9.5 tune-up on your bike??He said That stuff doesn't work!!I did and He went in the 9.5s first try!..Now He's a believer!!

Theres a difference,,Most people won't tell You their/these tricks!!I really don't care,I like to See people do better,,I get My own!!

I want to install a DRY kit and a air shifter on this little sucker and see what it does!!

But more than likely I'am putting in a 1000 motor!!

So all that work is only worth a 10th?? My main issue with your Numbers are the Speed... HP is directly related to MPH, You may get lucky and get a great time as that only shows traction but 135 out of a stock 600. Hell Schnitz is barely getting 135 and those bikes are geared, plus 45-50 lb added to the front and a ton of other things... The guy with the bars i believe totally, its your numbers i dont find right...

Time slips won't prove this claim.....
I want a VIDEO....
anybody can take anybodies time slip and say it is theirs.
I agree with VERY knowing gixxerguy77.....
that MPH is TOO high for what you have listed on a street tire.....
especially packing 185....
that is NOT a light rider.....
if you can really run this you need to talk to a factory because
I'm sure they would be interested....
if it was true???

Here's some food for thought...

98 Katana 600 w/stock gearing, Yosh slipon, K&N, and Stage 1 Jet Kit. Ran it 12.5xx @ 105.xx. 60' times are the key. On a run like that, my 60' was 1.8xx.

Now my 04 GSXR 600 (Micron slipon and TRE)...I don't think I should have any problems turning a high 10, low 11's max @ 120-ish. I'll have to get used to lauching it however, but once I have my 60' times down, the rest is history.

There are WAY too many factors that affect 1/4 mile times. Tires, temperature of track, temp of tires, temp of air, humidity, wind, tire pressure, mechanical condition of bike, rider size and weight, etc. I guess I should sum up my post and state that a stock or near stock 600 sportbike should go low 11's quite easily. Just because you can't do it doesn't mean there's something wrong with your bike - it's all in the rider.

Ride safe brotha's!

You should brush up on your reading comprehension skills d00d. After I realized I was only kind of ranting, I ended my post with...

"I guess I should sum up my post and state that a stock or near stock 600 sportbike should go low 11's quite easily. Just because you can't do it doesn't mean there's something wrong with your bike - it's all in the rider."

The only bike i was beat by was a hayabusa dragster(flat slick stutter box and wheelie bar)! I beat him at the light but he 60 footed me and i couldnt catch him. He got me by 3 tenths at 9.2 @144. I've run my 03 Gixxer which is stock other then a K&N filter to a best so far of an 11.14@125MPH with 1.9 sec 60 ft times. Thats a stock height, stock bald tire and 36 psi tire pressures. I weigh in at around 170 lbs.

My track sucks and the bald tire can't be helping. Hopefully when i get a new rear tire and go to a better track a high 10 will be in my future. Bike will be going on a dyno hopefully this week.
