2 of my valve cover bolts are leaking around their seals... i was wondering if i could just tighten them up or is this far worse than i think it is? what should i do?

they all do that after a while.....try replacing the oil seals that are underneath the bolts (if you haven't already).

sims & rohm (back when they were sims & rohm images/icons/grin.gif) used to make replacement valve cover bolts for these bikes, that had integrated o-rings into them to prevent the leaking.

if all else fails, a bit of silicone rtv should put an end to the leaking, but it's really more of an annoyance than a danger. same goes for the oil line that runs up from the lower crankcase to the valve cover....it tends to start seeping at the joints.

i've tried hand-tightening it down with an hex key and you can see the oil welling up while it's running... i guess i'm going to have to buy new seals.

oh great i just noticed one of the carbs is leaking too. DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN images/icons/frown.gif
