I have a 01' GSXR 600 and had a high speed crash in May. I had sent out the bike to get the frame checked and straighted. I was told that it was off by 7mm and they had fixed it. I had redone a new front end from PPS and had 9.0 springs and ohlins valves installed. Had tried to race it this past weekend and bike felt like crap. I was over 10 seconds off my pace and was wondering if it is ME, SUSPENSION, or FRAME.
I have my sag set at 34 front and 28 rear. As for the rebound and compression, they are set close to my old setting. I do not understand what would make the bike feel like the front end will tuck after I had change and check everything. Would anybody be able to explain what is wrong with my bike? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif

If you had the settings similar to before the front end rebuild, then I can almost guarantee they will be totally off. Especially because of the different valving. It is also possible that during re-assembly, the fork tube height is not the same and thus causes the bike to steer differently. What is the amount of tube protrusion (in millimeters) above the triple clamp? Also, what tires are you using? Are they the same ones from the crash?

i have 10mm showing on the front tubes not including the caps (12mm total). I am using the same tire Michelin if thats what you mean, but not using the same exact ones from the crash. Thats why im comming to the conclusion that the bike is still crooked. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif

How much did it cost to have the frame staightened?

Wow, thats a lot of drop to the front end. Some people like it though and it depends on the rear ride height combination.
Can you give a better description as to what the bike is doing/not doing ? Rather than you are 10 seconds off pace? Can't really diagnose the problem without any symptoms...10 seconds off is a result of the problem.

I took it to MotoTechnica for straightening and they charged me about $400. Also, they support WSMC riders, that is probably the explination for the lower price. They were the only ones that were able to do it in a short amount of time before my next race. I wanted to take it to Mackie or DrJohns but they were both booked and not open on the weekends.
As for GMD they are no longer have a facility in Los Angeles. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif

Thanks Wipper... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
That was the problem...the settings were way off...
I went out on a track day to dial-in my suspension and found the 10sec lost...

Actually, I had a question kind of related. I have a k5 1000 and it got knocked over in a parking lot. An SUV full of kids backed into the bike hitting it from behind... guess their bumper knocked if off the kick stand and it toppled over. I did have RG Frame protectors. Thank God. The only real damage was superficial on the seat edge, lever, shifter, engine case.... and seat rail. It seems the left side rail got a bit bent as the left side passenger peg hit the floor. It could tell right away as I rode it to the shop to drop it off.
Of course the shop did its best to fix everthing. My insurance paid for it all and it looks like before from any angle. Except.... as I am riding now it seems to lean over just a little to the left. It steers straight, but I can't help but think i'm compensating for something that is off... The shop swears the bars weren't bent or put out of place. the seat raid was replaced.
So. My question is how much adjustment can I make to the seat rails to pull the seat just a smidge to the left to line it up with the rest of the bike. It might be no big deal, but I hate the way it makes me sit on the bike and how it affects my control of it.
any thoughts

i had a 10mph crash in a parking lot and it knocked the steering off. MAke sure the tire lines up in the front fender when the bars are straight. Good news was it was a 20 dollar dealer fix.
