Did the all forum search, and could not come up with a diagram. One thread said Knoxvegas gave one to MAGixxer6. Does anyone have this info? Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to help me out boostenlebaron. I emailed MAGixxer6. Hopefully someone has it.

Do an internet search for "National Semiconductor CD4089". This is the chips you will need. The circuit you will need to build is listed as "cascading packages", page 5-212 of the catalog.

It's a speedometer corrector, for lots of different bike (electronic speedos only, of course)

check out www.blackrobotics.com (http://www.blackrobotics.com)
They are the ones who make it.

I don't understand why a speedometer would be that far off? I'be heard they sometimes are 10+ off. wtf?

10%... meaning if you're registering 30mph, you might be going 27 or 33. If it registers 100 you might be going 90 or 110. Get a stop watch and a measured mile. Hold it at 60mph and see how long it takes to go that mile. You can calculate what percentage your bike is off and ride accordingly. Now don't use your odometer, it's gonna be off too. Go between mile markers or better yet 4 or 5 miles. That being said, do this.

1 mile at 60 mph (on the clock) in 57 seconds. So 3 seconds too fast. 3 divided by 60 is .05. That's 5% too fast. (Or you go 5 miles in 307 seconds (5.12 minutes) 5.12 divided by 5 is 1.024... about 2.5% too slow.)

Now you have a cop behind you at in a 30mph zone.... slow down about 5%. Now your clock reads 28.5 mph and you're really going 29.925. But do you really think the cop cares if your speedo is showing 30 and he's got you at 31.5? No. Most cops will give you some room because they know speedos are not exact.

Worst case. You're doing 75 in a 70 zone. He's got you clocked 78.75 mph. He might give you a ticket. Best thing to do is know if yours is a little over or a litte under and ride that way when John Law is behind you.

Hmm... I can't find it. There is only "Intersil Corporation CD4089" and this one is also a "B" type. Can you be more specific please. I probably can build it if I can find the right information - been looking for some time now. I have the knowledge and the access to electonic components.

PS. Who do I need to E-Mail to get the schematics?

Can someone at lease PM me if they know something. I promise I won't tell anyone http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thats BS!
I want to sell them not buy them.
Anyway I found a guy who will make me the right schematic and from there I can manage myself.

You will need 2 IC's. They are both CD4089 by National. You wont find them at a Radio Shack though. To find the schematic try searching National Semiconductor, the IC is a binary rate multiplier. The circuit is simple, however it requires some math to figure out which pins to set for speed error. A search for "cd4089" gives a datasheet from Texas Instruments also.

Here's a link to the datasheet from digikey

Digikey Data Sheet (http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/cd4089b.pdf)

simply searching for the part number on digikey brings back several options for the same chip.

I'd be interested to see a functioning schematic tho... since i need one of these too after my 520 conversion
