: Any bike meets, road tracks, drag strips near Long Beach?
the_spindoctor 06-15-2004, 10:51 AM i''m looking into a new job and moving to california from texas, and i was wondering if there were any get togethers (no squid fests) drag strips, or road tracks anywhere near long beach. bikes are a big part of my life, so i want to check up on stuff before i get serious about moving. also, what is the general atmosphere like in that area, ghettos, where not to live (apts), weird laws, anything that might sway my decision. i've never been to california before, and i'm sure it'll be a lot different than the 100+ degree days we have here, and flat straight boring roads. any input would be greatly appreciated.
Hammer 4 06-15-2004, 11:04 AM Yup, there are..there's a few riders in Long Beach... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Tracks....Roadcourse's Willow Springs, main track, and The Streets Of Willow located in Rosamond...California Speedway...home of Cali's AMA event..located in Fontana, not that far from L.B.
Drag Strips..Irwindale Raceway...they run SuperMotard, and drag races..loctaed in Irwindale also, not that far from L.B.
SoCal_GSXR 06-15-2004, 11:51 AM Well to being with, some parts of Long Beach are nice, especially the areas closer to the marina, but expect to pay a bunch for it.
One thing about Cali, its cheaper to buy a home then to rent an apartment!!
As for the events, and rides, there are all levels of riders from the worst http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/squid.gif to the most extreme getting together, you would have no trouble hooking up with a few if not many riders of all classes.
the_spindoctor 06-15-2004, 12:16 PM cool, as long as there is a dragstrip close by, i'll be ok. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif i doubt i'd be able to do any track days for a while until i get settled in anyway. what areas would be decent to live without being too much of a drive to long beach? i have no clue about traffic over there, but i'm guessing everywhere is bad. i'm 25, and have lived in dallas for 20 years, so the idea of moving to california and starting a new life is very intimidating.

Welp, the best thing to do is...ask about the area where you plan to move to..as socal said, some parts of L.B. aren't what ya'd call .....a good place to live...however, there are lots of areas in L.B. that are very nice...so ask before ya buy/rent...
Check out the ares of no. long beach...around the 405 frwy, and Studeabaker(sp)..also, Seal Beach is very nice, but $$$$$ spendy...then there's Huntington Bch...Newport Bch....high $$$$ areas...imho, check out the no. long beach areas...there's some nice homes around there...
