: Low rpm boging....

well it seems my bike is running a bit odd... it's got the stock map, now it could be from some crappy gas too....

it was running really good untill the other day, if I blip the throttle in neutral, and blip it again, and again up to 5000 rpms, it seems to bog and then even stall due to the rpms dropping down to low for a second.... now I took off the airbox cover and ran it and did the same thing, blipping the throttle, and it seemed to backfire through the throttle bodies a few times...

now it seems I would get more miles out of a tank on my 96 750, about 30 more miles and that was when riding really hard... so I think i could be running way too rich...

it only bogs if I go from idle, then instantly wide open, if I open it slowly it runs okay... but still not like it was a week ago... ???????

anyone ever had this problem? could it be an overtightend camchian tensioner???

Whats the idle speed set to ?

From what you are saying it sounds as though its running rich.

Are you running a Power Commander ? You said stock map - but is that the PC zero map, or the factory map ?

What mods do you have ?

Check that the air-filter is not old/blocked and also that there is not a leaf in the intake - I picked up a leaf last fall and my bike ran like a dog until I figureed it out.

questions, questions, questions.....

When was it last serviced ?

It could be a number of things images/icons/frown.gif ...but it does sound like its running rich. Check your TPS setting...if the bar is on top then its probably running rich. Good Luck!

sorry guys... the bike is a 99... totally stock only 1999 k's on it.... I've checked everything,

on a stock bike how can you tell where the TPS is at?

p.s. It has a stock can off of a 97 600.... DOH!
i'm gonna get a full system one day...
other then that it was running fine...

heres a question: If the cam chain tensioner was too tight would this cause a situation like this? low rpm boging?

Put the bike into dealer mode. Turn the ignition or the bike on (if you only turn on the ignition, make sure the bike is warm). A code with a vertical bar in front of it should appear on the speedo display. The bar should be in the middle...this indicates a proper TPS setting. Search in this forum for previous posts on TPS...theres some good stuff on it out there. images/icons/smile.gif

Idle is set around 1200 or so and when you crack the throttle off idle it has a studder. When the rpm comes back down it drops off to 500 rpms or so then back to the 1200. Sometimes it actually drops low enough to stall the engine. It starts fine and runs great in the higher rpms. Its really starting to piss me off a bit. Ive got a '99 750 also with a D&D bolt on. Just replaced the air cleaner and still the problem. If you find something out let me know I would really enjoy mine running proper. I have a buddy with a '98 750 and he just loves to rev at stop lights, I'm almost afraid in fear of the bike stalling. Thanks-peace

Ok it really sounds like the TBs need to be synced really bad... That is whay makes mine do.

Yes a over tight CCT can help make this problem but it would have to be REALLY tight to make it stall...

Check the TPS and the MAP on your PCII...
