I called the Dealership today to see how hard it would be to lower the front end about a 1/2 inch and they said they could do it in a Hour for 60$ by loosining the Pinch bolts and lowering the Forks. Is this Hard to do or should I pay the Dealership ?
do it yourself mate!...get a mate to come by and help you! put your bike on its rear stand and then using a jack prop the front end up
the pinch bolts are the bolts used to clamp your forks onto the rest of the bike....just look at your forks and you will see what i mean. loosen them push up your forks...and voila!....be sure to torque the shit back to spec! its almost as easy as i have described it hehehe...just get someone to help...
dont pay the shop money when u can do it yourself...and what you learn about your bike by doin it is invaluable too!
If u got a 12mm socket and a car jack, u're there graemlins/thumbup.gif [Torque wrench is an advantage]
1) Remove front fairing + air ducts
2) Loosen the pinch bolts at the triple clamp... there are 3 "clamp" areas, hence the name.
For each fork, there's a pair of pinch bolts on the bottom yoke, a bolt at the top yoke, and a bolt for the clip-on.
U may want to loosen the brake reservoir to get to the bolts on the RHS.
3) Jack up the front via car jack [with a block of wood under the pipes] or a front stand.
4) Loosen the bolts some more till the forks drop thru the yokes via gravity. A little push via your fingers on top of the forks usually sinks them images/icons/wink.gif
Make sure both sides are at the same height above the top yoke, and tighten them bolts to 23Nm. images/icons/smile.gif
Then enjoy the slapping experience images/icons/grin.gif

In fact for what you are trying to do, you dont have to jack up the front of the bike. If you only loosen one side at a time you should be able to move the fork up the half inch you are looking for. Everything else they say is true...

Thanks for the Help Guys I appreciate it. images/icons/grin.gif
I use the car jack because the forks wont slide up the clamps the same distance when ive loosen all the pinch bolts.
Plus, if u've dropped a bit too far, u can jack the front up so the forks will slide back down.

Out of interest, why are you lowering the front end?

KaTz<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Yes but if you only loosen one side and adjust it, tighten, then loosen the other side. It should be able to be done without the jack.. If you have the jack it wouldnt be a bad idea.. but if you dont have one you can still do it.. images/icons/smile.gif
