Ok so I'm looking at a few bikes, mainly a 96 and a 98 750 from individual sellers. I'm just wondering, both bikes look to be well taken cared for. However, theres always maintenence you should do that some people may or may not do prior to selling. What maintence tasks should I perform right after picking up the bike just to make sure everythings in top shape.

How many miles will also have a big part in what you should do.

yeah ask the seller if he did anything to get the bike in tip-top shape before selling,,,,,,, but don't trust him to that images/icons/smile.gif
yeah, bare minimum I'd change coolant, oil and filter, check air filter and all vaccuum hoses, brake fluid, tires, forks, check the plugs (might as well replace depending on mileage), check tappet clearances (depending on miles),
if you get the 98 do the TRE, PAIR mod, and dealer mode switch... and a manual CCT (although I'm not sure if my bike has one, I bought it at 6K and now at 13K i've never heard anything like the CCT fukkin up) *knock on wood*
