Hey guys... Please don't think I'm hating on any gixxer riders here. I think gix riders are the best of the bunch of sport bike riders. This board especially shows me that gix riders help each other out curteously and with good knowledge. I'm really also not trying to say I'm a bad ass rider by this post that knows everything about riding. Here is my concern...

Ever since the 1000 came out, I've noticed a whole lot more gixxers out there, which is dope!! Also with that, I've noticed that all these new riders are flocking to get a 1000. The weak part is that I've encountered a few 1000 riders and they don't show me any love. I usually throw a "sup" peace sign down low and I get a "sup" back like 90% of the time. Recently when I did that, the dude just reved his shiet, looked at me and took off. Another encounter was when I was at a stop light and these two 1000 boys went slowly past me and reved their bikes and took off.

I guess my point is, since there has been much hype (and well backed by the actual performance of the 1000 I may add), I'm concerend the gix family is gonna turn into the Yamaha R1/R6 kinda of crowd. You know what I mean? Most R1/R6 riders are show offs, cocky, squid riders that get that bike just to show off and not mainly cuz they love riding. The R1/R6 is a dope bike too... but damn... a lot of the riders are asses (not all of course)! I just hope newbie riders slow their rolls down when they think they can handle a 1000 as their first bike.

I also hope this board stays as helpful and friendly as it's always has been. Sorry if I'm trippin here and this is an exaggerated feeling. Let me know if any of you guys have ever thought about this.

i know what you mean. Alot of kids around here have big bikes as there first bike and they cant ride for shit. I stopped at a local hangout the other night on my bike and there was some young kid on his new 1000 hanging out with all his friends in cars. So i pull in on my bike i see them all looking and kinda talking shit to each other.
My bike is a 600 with a 750 motor and about 3k worth of work. So i went up and asked what was up and to see if he wanted to run. He kinda laughed and said ok. The kid couldnt ride for shit. We came past the lot top of 3rd gear and i was WAY out on him.
Needles to say when we got in the lot nobody was talking sahit except me. Getting beat by a 600 on a 1000.
Damn stupid kids he should have still probalby beaten me if he could ride.

unfortunatly you get them on all brands of bikes, since the gsxr is the baddest bike on the block at the moment, that will also attract squids just as quick as the R1 did..

ok ok. I'm a skiier, and have seen the boarders talking trash, showing off their new expencive clothes, and smoking cigarettes/weed what have you. I've also ridden bikes for about 3 and a half years (already?) I too was at first annoyed. But as it turns out, the posers are quickly weeded out by bad wrecks or more likely, boredom steming from the fact that they have no skills and no intention of developing them so just standing around wearing great gear, goretex for boarders and leahters for riders, and swipping mommys credit cards, just isn't as HYPE, er TIGHT, er BLING BLING, er whatever them young whippersnappers are sayin these days... as the videogame equivalent. The others, grow up and become serious snow or asphalt addicts. Which I am of both. And which I welcome them all, race, creed, or type of bike, or boarders/skiiers/tricksters/rec riders/racers alike. Also, just be glad that in the next few years, you'll be able to pick up a low milage 1k for dirt cheap.

Mmmmm, maybe not so much so in Aust...

Just last nite, i was heading into the city at nite, and a 1000 pulled up at the lights a couple of lanes away. We nodded, i gave a graemlins/thumbup.gif .

Lights changed, we both pull off moderately fast into our mid range. Very sensible and ordinary.

Dont let a couple of bad apples spoil the rest. images/icons/wink.gif

I guess we're lucky here in Smalltown, USA. Most of the squids have F3's or something. I started out on an Intruder (haha), and moved up to a Katana 600 before I got the GiXXer. And all of the riders in this area are friendly as I could ever wish. There's really a bunch of great guys here. Everybody rides hard, race each other, beat each other, and laugh about it. Hell, when people compliment me on the GiXXer, I immediately tell them that my 21yr. old brother waxed me at 165+ mph on his 2k1 929RR. No big deal.

The only dissappointment is my friend, Sam, who has a 2001 'Busa that he's only pushed up to 95mph. I give him a hard time, but he'll probably have that 'Busa looking sharp for years to come. He's asking about wheelies now, anyway graemlins/thumbup.gif

Unfortunatly, the 1000 has become the squid wheelie machine. Most of the riders around here buy the 1000 because the '750 sucks.' For some reason they need the 1000 to pull wheelies.

I feel like I'm in the minority of the 1000 owners. I don't pull 5 mile wheelies, I dont stunt, I don't drive 150 MPH thru rush hour traffic....

Unfortunatly, the 1000 has earned the title of 'the ultimate squid machine.' We can all thank the magazines and dumbasses with too much money.

gixxer333's got the right idea... I'm gonna follow his example and keep waving to everyone regardless. And like KaTz said, I won't let a few spoiled frat boyz ruin my day. I'd let a nice sorority girl ruin my day anyday however... images/icons/wink.gif

Sqids - hah hah hah

On Sunday I went to the local motorcycle Dealer, there was a guy there showing off his R1.

This R1 was a work of art, it had a polished nitrous bottle mounted where the rear pegs go, a polished exhaust, polished rims, frame, GDI, quickshift, adonised bolts everywhere, and a seriously trick paint job.

One really small thing though the rear tire showed no wear whatsoever for over an inch each side - the thing had never been around a corner as far as I could tell.

He took a look at my well worn '98 750, and made some comment about it being under powered. I mentioned that it had close to 140hp on the dyno (well it did 20,000 miles ago, I think it was 136 which is close enough, when it was a bit stronger than it is today, but hey, I have the printouts somewhere, and the bill for the cams, and shit) and he laughed - saying that "real men have over 200".

Yeah right - so what if it has 200hp, if you are clueless as to how to use it, its a waste. Shame really as the bike was very pretty.

I just wonder if he will ever learn to ride it.

For what its worth I almost cannot see the point in having that much power - I struggle to use my bike to any great extent, the only times I have ever got close is on the track, and then I simply scare myself and slow down images/icons/smile.gif What is the use in 200+ hp on a bike you are incapable of riding ?

All the kids do in their liter bikes is laugh, taunt and that sort of stuff. Sometime they come out to watch people at the track though and when they recognize me, they can't even look me in the eye. Oh well, I guess that's satisfaction enough for me.

But but but......

I remember the first Gixxer 750's they where real head=banger machines - if you had a gixxer you where a scary dude, and endless people bought them and either scared themselves stupid, killed theirselves, or just simply stuck to straight-line red-lines.

I think that the advent of the FXR1000 changed the sqid brand, with the SRAD 750, and then the R1, now finally the gsxr1000 things have changed.

Many people are interested only in straight-line performance - corners scare people.

Oddly enough I have owned many of the former head-bangers, RD2250/350 XS500, Z650 CB750four, Z900, early gixxers, a 7-11 images/icons/smile.gif FZR1000, and now I have been stuck on my '98 750 SRAD for ages, still not found anything to top it.

Is there a way this topic can move to General? I wonder what the rest of the board thinks about this.

who gives a shit about other people?

Some people buy because they love to ride.

Others buy bikes because they love to go fast and stunt.

Other buy bikes because they wanna pose with it.

...Or a combination of the above.

To let the inevitable fact that other people have bikes because they are gay posers AFFECT YOU, IS IN AN OF ITSELF: GAY.

Get over it.

Just fuckin ride. graemlins/bash.gif

The massive popularity of gixxer's with "squid-more-money-than-brains" types is great!!! We need people to pump more money into the industry and then sell their rides dirt cheap after gettin smoked by too many smaller bikes graemlins/bounce.gif

And hey, should the worst happen, they're gonna hurt less people than with a fast car... And produce yet more cheap parts images/icons/tongue.gif

Hey GIXXER333 I know what you mean , but the funny thing is i'm here in Milpitas too .. I just picked up my 1000 a month back , but let me tell you i'm very humble on it...hahah Been riding for over 15years and i've beaten plenty of guys on my 88 -90 gixxers that i've owened.
So believe me i'm very humble toward the guy with the 600 to the guy with the 3500 superdupper flying rocket...
Dont worry i always throw the sign , its good feeling to know there a tight comunity among us riders.. sometimes we get the bad apples but we need them ( for laughs).
So if you see me throw the sign , i'm on a blk/slvr 2001 1000

People buy bikes for 3 reasons I think
a. Can't afford a car
b. its pretty
c. they want to ride fast and just love the sport

I've seen a lot of squids.. its usually the fools that hang out at Starbucks though.. I've seen a few riders that go to starbucks get a drink, get their friends to go riding and really ride.. then there are those that get a drink at starbucks hang out and talk about bikes all day long.. but never ride... I guess I can't really talk since I am always doing homework and whenever I do ride it's Sharp park Road all day behind my house.. God I lvoe that road.. anyways one day while I was there I said hi to a couple of riders but alas they were too, flashy for me and they all had matching helmets and gear.. full leathers and the best systems.. 4 bikes.. a 2002 Gix750, gix 1k, and the new black and silver R1 and black and silver 954 RR.. I hope those shitheads were just breaking their bikes in because they were slow as HELL!. I would beat them in the turns then they would accelerate in the straight parts and play catch up.. then brake then accellerate and then brake.. it was quite humorous.. But again I am glad there are those people like that.. it makes for more parts.. I jsut want their steering dampeners... and leathers! hehehe..
PEAS!

Hahahaha... yea guys. Thanks for the replies. Yeah I really shouldn't worry about those dicks and just ride!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is "gay" to let that effect me. That's the ticket tho. But it's cool you guys feel me on this. It's always cool to ride with friendly people and if you don't have that, then it becomes like when you commute in a cage: a bunch of road raged maniacs!

Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for Reid cuz I go ride out by Sharp Park sometimes cuz he lives out in Pacifica. If you see a blue and white 98 and a Red Duc 916 ridin' together, that's me and my bro. I'll also keep an eye out for that black silver 2k2 Gix in Milpitas. Peace!
