Is the 04 fork diameter (upper tube) different from the 01-02? For that matter, what is the differnece between the earlier models front suspension and the 04, other than the radial mounted brake calipers and the bottom tube coating? I checked the search function but didn't find anything. Any input or links would be appreciated! Thanks for the help!

I don't know the details but the fork internals are definitely different. I had a set of '02s and '03s which I had planned to swap internals and GMD Boston found the cartridges were distinctly different and I ended up having to have the '03s built instead.

I took the internals out of my '01 forks, intending to put them into my '03 forks. The cartridges are different; but, I did use the same shim stacks, and the forks work great.

The diameters are the same.

From 1991-1999 GSXR 750 Upper tube diameters are 50/54 214mm crown width. From 2000 -2004 GSXR 750 Upper tube diameters are 50/54 207 Crown width. All GSXR 1000's are also 50/54-207 and 2004 600's are 50/54-207. The internals and lower tube diameters have changed a little. 1991-1995 750"s are 41mm lowers, and from 1996 up all 750 and all 1000's and 04 600's are 43mm lower.
