After thinking about buying this for years I finally bit the bullet. I got the jacket liner and single portable controller yesterday. Went out on the highway at 10pm to test it out. Temp was upper 30's, wore my unlined Dainese non perf leather jacket over and a short sleeve t shirt under (also had A stars Apex gloves and Gortex boots and freeze out bottoms under my jeans). About an hour ride with the heat turned up halfway and I was toasty warm. Full blast I'd probably fry to death. It was almost like riding in 70 degree weather. Heat comes on almost instantly and you're like "damn". The wire harness to the battery can be tucked up under the side of the seat when not in use. I have no need for the rest of the heated gear because when my core body temp is warm it helps warm everything else. A little pricey but when you take into account the cost of winter jackets and everything else you use to layer up it's worth the money and you don't have to feel like the Michelin man, the jacket is thinner than it appears in pics. And you're much warmer. IMO it would be fine even with a perforated summer jacket which I'll be testing as well.
