I just recently purchased a 99' GSXR600, and I noticed that when I'm at a stoplight and put it in 1st gear I hear a clunk sound. Also, when going from 1st to 2nd (using the clutch) it sometimes goes to neutral. Does my clutch need to be adjusted, or replaced?
It has 8,700 miles on the bike. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Nope both are normal images/icons/smile.gif
Your 1st or 2nd gear might be wearing out but both those symptoms are pretty Gixxerish.
I had 17k on my bike before I needed to get a couple gears replaced.

Hey Draggin, with respect to your bike sometimes hitting neatral between first and second, try adjusting your gear shift lever lower so that you get more leverage on it during your upshifts. Makes a big difference, good luck.

Yup sounds like chuckin a 10 pound ball bearing into an empty 50 gallon steel drum ,,,,,,when you drop it into first.....why they cant make it smooth is beyond me but almost all bikes are like this!!! maybe waiting til 3000 to solve it !!!
