I finally done it -

I figured out how to mount rear pegs on my 750 with the crazy high-level RS3 zaust images/icons/smile.gif

This is tough because the box sits right where the RH paegs wants to sit - so, all you need to do is this...

1) Remove the seats and rear body work.

2) Remove the box hanger

2.3) remove all extrenious metal from the peg hanger - the exhaust hanger is a lump that is easy to dreml off, but you also need to lose the circular bit at the top too.

3) postition the RH peg so that the rear bolt is connected and the front one is in front of the subframe.

4) put the hanger at inside of the subframe - this is a tight squeeze.

5) postion the peg hanger over the top of the subframe at the front. This clears the exhaust by about 1/2", and pas a bolt through this.

6) Either make-up a small braket to bolt in place and hold the hanger in place, or use a C-clamp - 3/4" seems to be about right - I used the home-made bracket in the end though.

7) Replace the bodywork. This is the hard part - you need to trim the bodywork to clear the peg hangers a little - on mine is was "just into the blue".

The pegs are re-located up about 1.5" and slighly forward - the overall postion is fine unless your passenger is tall. When they are folded the face almost straight back and look good.

If I get my camera working again, I'll take some pics.....

As promised - here are the pics

I have not yet pulled it apart - so these are more the finished pics

Fromt the front - looking back at the peg on the exhaust side.....

Note this also shows the extent to which you have to trip the plastic to get it to fit nicely.

This is looking back at teh peg from the rear - note that there was a lot of metal removal - most of it required just to get it to fit that way

Finally an image of the peg mount from the back - you can see the custom bracket bolted to the stock place - this is about 1.5" long and mounts to just the subframe and the peg bracket.

finally the full effect - note that the look factory from this angle.....

IM glad you posted this im trying to figure out a way to do mine with my hindle. You gave me an idea different from yours im not sure if it will work yet but ill let ya know. I think ill mount the rear of the peg bracket to the front mount on the subframe and make a new bracket to mount the front to. I just dont want to cut the plastic.

I also cut up some older pegs/brackets, and tried that, but in the end this is the safest solution.

I rarely carry a passenger but I wnated them to be safe when I did. The only complaint thus far is that if the passenger does not have a heal, they tend to fold a little. My next move may be to shave the pegs and mounts off, and mount older pegs with an integral hinge on the plate

OK - I had to make a small mod, so here goes....

This is the bracket that you need to make - mine is made from some "Home Depot" drilled steel.

http://max.nealon.net/pics/pegs/bracket.jpg

I also added a "Rod connector" to the peg bracket, rather than use a bent bracket.

This is the peg with the rod connector added - this is easier than trying to put the bracket on the bike, and then line it up.

This shows the peg in place on the exhaust side.

I used PJ-WELD under the tube connector to ensure that it stays in place.

In order to ensure that the peg is stable, you need 3-4 washers between the peg and the peg bracket under the hex bolt.

Hope that this is clear....
