Ill be doing the valve adjustment on my bike in a coupleof mths. FRom what ive heard, it's pretty easy, but time consuming [Measuring this and that, getting the shims sorted].

What's so crap about them ???
If the reason is good, i'll avoid them next time i need to buy a manual. graemlins/thumbup.gif

The OEM just gives you better pics, and more specs... There is so much stuff in my OEM book, half the time I think to my self, when am I ever going to need this... Untill the timming chain broke... Then I knew when... lol

The valve adjustment isnt really hard. It just takes a lot of time... remember the cam cap bolts are only set to 7ft lbs.... no more, also, DO NOT mix the cam cap bolts with different ones. They are a different bolt for the cam caps...

Dont trust the numbers on the shims, get a mic and check them.

Use some assembaly lube on everything when you put the cams back in... Cam lobes and jurnals.

If you are going to do a valve adjustment, GET A MANUAL CCT. It will save you so much in the long run...

I am haveing a new problem now, seems the bike is makeing a nasty thumping and rattleing sound almost like a rod knock but it goes away after i accelerate. called suzuki and seems the bike did not have the cct recall done. Can anyone TRY to explain what it sounds like when the cct is going????? Suzuki is going to install this new one but i am still leary with what i have been hearing. Thanks.

If it sounds like a LOUD zipper that is slapping metal... I guess that is the best I can do.. lol

It would be on the right side of the motor, You should hear it a bit at steddy rpm about 10K and a lot on decel (that is the normal times anyhow). If it came from nowere, I would bet it is the cct... images/icons/frown.gif

I would just get a manual one when you do your valve adjustment. Even the replacement ones suck. I used up 3 of them... images/icons/frown.gif

My CCT makes a noise when it's revving in the low rpms [2000-3500rpm], when it's running from cold.

Then it goes away once the engine warms up.

My understanding is that, if it starts to make an excessively loud noise, then ill start to worry images/icons/grin.gif

I'd change it to a manual. I put a manual in and have had no problems. The sound goes away because the chain expands taking up the slack when warm. It's pretty simple to change and costs less than $60.
