i found place in NH that i guess buys salvage bikes and then makes then sells them, how risky is it to buy something like this, this place deals with tuns of bikes. hers the web page check it out. some of the bikes say ride home so i assume that means their road worthy and inspectable?

Those prices seem real high to me. I seen a 99 600 with a dented frame and no plastic for $3000.

I've heard the auctions are the places to go. I haven't found any local to me yet... maybe they are kept secret?

The prices at argo are WAY to high! graemlins/thumbdown.gif They seem to think they are sittin on gold. I bought a wrecked 97 gix 750 for less then what they want for a can-o-tuna. images/icons/grin.gif Look around and you can find one wrecked and fix it yourself.
I can tell you this, i will have less then $3000 into my bike after its fixed, with a fsmd undertail w/liberteks, full yosh rs3, and a yosh mjn.

Argo has been around for years!
Many horror stories precede them!
So...draw your own conclusions!

As a general rule of thumb, any vehicle with a salvage title is worth a MAXIMUM of HALF of "good" condition book value. So if it's been rebuilt to PERFECT *which it never truly is* and book value is 6k, then salvage version is worth 3.

if that was only true.. people still think thier 20 year old sport bikes with 70,000 on them are worth 3 to 4 grand. and they still think a salvage bike is worth the book value.. if salvage stuff went for a good price i wold love to get something to take to the track. and i have heard of those auctions but where are they? ? i would love to get something thats been down and doing it the way i want. .

It's a good starting point to negotiating.
