So I have reached a delima I cannot decide between a gxsr 600 or the SVS 650. I really like them both but for some reason I drawn towards the SV a bit more than the 600. I know about the power difference between the 600 and the SV, cause I don't really want to be disappointed with when I purchase the SV and say I should have gotten the 600 and thoughts there. Plus i prefer to buya used a one cause I really can't afford the cost of a new bike insurance right now i quoted for $345 for the year on 97 cbr 600 (I justed used the bike as a example casue i was unsure of what i bike i planned on buying). So any suggestion and/or recomdations would be great.

First bike? Then definately the SV. It's easier to learn to ride on, but it still won't bore you. And I would know, having one of each, although none of them were my first...

i agree with svs, if it's your first bike the svs is probably a much better choice. as for how to choose in the end... that's a tough call, since in my book they are two completely different rides.

You know what they say: once you experience twins, you never go back! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The 650 is definitely the better first bike and will make a nice track bike if you decide to go that direction.

i just bought a sv650s and it is my first bike and i love it. the insurance is cheap cuz its not considered a sport bike and i've droped it a couple of times and have only a broken turn signal to show for it. If i would have had a gsxr600 i would be crying right now because of the fairings. it has enough balls for me. i can always upgrade when i become a better rider, insted of killing myself on a bike thats too much for me. i really think if i had a more powerfull bike i would have dumped it in a bad way. there is so little room for error on the sport bikes that you can get in trouble real quick on them. i'll tell you i've made every kinda mistake on my sv650s and never felt out of control.
good luck

i think the riding position on the svs is plenty comfy.. i've ridden all day many times on mine. i'd say it's certainly less aggressive than the k4 gixxer.

Get both!!!! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Seriously...start out on the SV then if you feel comfortable enough in your abilities jump up to the gixxer. The SV is a much more forgiving bike to learn on.

Good luck. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

i also got the SV as my first bike..trust me if ur worried bout lack of power it doesnt come with that lol..i've suprised myself a few times popping the clutch =) it's also easy to wheelie if u have the urge..the overall cost of the bike is cheaper..as far as gas (u can use 87 octane) insurance, if u drop it, so just get the SV..it looks really nice, i've gotten TONS of compliments on the road

i don't personally use 87 in the gixxer (94 most of the time) but i do believe that's actually what the manual specifies.
