So we get up at 7am, put on our gear, hit the road at 7:30 to meet up with some fellow riders. We finally get down to the exit off the 15, and start heading into the hills. After a little while, and some slightly fun roads, we turn off onto Palomar and stop at the big tree. The guy that is with us that has been here before tells us about the first turn, and that when we get to the top at the yield sign, to make a left and go to Mother Kitchen.
So im thinking, cool deal, we will get to have some good fun twisting roads, and then grab a bite to eat. I figure im not hungy now, but surely after we get done riding this road, I will want to eat. So off we go past the palomarpics.net photographer, and then what seems like 5 minutes later, we hit the yield sign.
We stop and the guy ask's how we liked it, and I say, not a bad start. He then say's it gets funner the 3rd or 4th time up. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Basically what everyone does is ride up to the top, back down, and does it over and over again.
We rode all that way, to ride the same 7 miles over and over again. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif
Now the actual road was fun, allbeit short, but it was probably the most technical one I have been on. Not sure if its just me, but my idea of a sunday ride isnt an hour and 20 mins on the freeway, to ride the same 7 miles over and over again.
Hopefully the only good thing that came out of this total waste of time was some good shots by the palomar pic guy. While the raod was fun, im sorry to say I dont think I will ever see it again.

Not to nit-pick but I thought it was 10miles for the front, and 17 miles on the back?
You may want to go down the other side (make a right at the top sign instead of a left to mothers). This side in the past year has been notorious for being under construction, with patches in the road of new asphault which are not cool (like the one you pass coming up the front recently).
You may also want to keep going past mothers and up to the observatory. Its probably 4-5 miles further up the road.
It is kind of tough to find a canyon road that goes for 40 miles that is awesome the entire length. Angeles Crest is pretty long and is pretty nice, but its rittled with cars and tons of CHP, so that sorta shoots that idea down.
I personally am pretty beat after riding down to Palomar, then doing it 2-3x, im ready to goto lunch and head home. On my way home (and on my way there) I go over Ortega (highway 74) so I get some more fun.
I never eat at Mothers as that place is vegetarian. I prefer to eat somewhere like old town Temecula at Texas Lil's where all the hunnies are at.

If you want to make a long day about it..then go up the tight side and then down the fast side (Right at yield)....then at the stop sign make a left....make a right on MESA GRANDE.follow that till the end...right at stop sign...eat there in Santa Ysabel....up towards Julian..right at stop sign...either go straight or right at he gas station.....you either hit BANNER GRADE or you go to SUNRISE HIGHWAY....

Now that sounds like a fun ride. Unfortunately the third guy we rode with was only intrested in doing the turn around thing.
