I noticed when I first start my 97 750 the exhaust appears to be white. What causes this and is it a big problem. The bike only has 6500 miles. I changed the plugs last summer.

If it is white only when you start the bike... dont stress on it. Mine did it all the time and I had to do some work, but dont worry if it is only on startup....

If it makes you feel better, mine does the same thing on startup.

As I understand it:

White smoke = water/steam.

Black smoke = fuel/running rich.

Blue smoke = oil.

Red smoke = Satan has possessed your bike.

it's normal for a properly jetted/mapped exhaust to be a bit dirty.....exhaust smoke is not exactly clean.

Most of the time, white smoke is oil that is burning... It might have a slight hint of blue, but that would change with the oil you use.
