: 98 problems?

I've been looking into buying a 98 750, though I've heard some people say the 98 has quirks with the FI. Just wondering if anyones had problems with the FI system or anything else I should be aware of on a 98 before I jump into anything uneducated. Since I'm obviously new here, let me say the site and forums are great.

I have owned a 98 750 for 5 months & have covered
nearly 7,000kms in this time.
I havn't experienced any probs in this time. It has been used in town & at high speed, I would recomend these bikes to any one who likes a bit of speed & knee scraping.

The only complaint I have is sometimes the FI is on / off at lower revs. The power doesn't come on real smooth, instead it snaps a little. This isn't a big problem, but it is something that you have to be aware of. Other than that, no problems.

Mine was a little hurky jerky in the first 1/4 throttle. Especially, in traffic. A quick remap of the FI solved that one. I will never go back to a non FI bike again.

Now the only problem with my bike is the idiot on the seat. graemlins/bash.gif

the TRE mod really smoothed things out for me, i made it switchable so making the same low speed U-turn with it on then off see's a huge difference!

i loe it! dont seem to be having any probs here either!...touch wood!

The tre and map job will fix any jurking going on....

Get a Manual CCT for it.

I had a problem with mine when I first got it. After only 150 miles on it, whenever I started it up, the RPM's would shoot above 10,000. I got a whole new FI system and since have been racing it for the past 3 yrs and not a single problem.

But you should still look into a manual CCT, and if you race, it is that much more reason to get one.

TRE = Timming Retard Eliminator.

Zuk put a retard on the first 3 gears below like 6000 RPM... Seems it was for smog crap... You can put a 15Kohm resistor on the Gear Position sensor, makes the bike think it is in 6th gear all the time...
