I may have found my first bike. I was at a salvage yard and I was looking for a bike that was ok shape, ok enough for me to maybe put together one part at a time. After not finding anything outside, I went inside to ask a employee if the had anything else that I my want as a project and the guy said "Well we don't have any gixxers in that type of condition but, we do sell a few bikes that are in good condition". He pointed me in the direction that I should go a low and behold the first thing that jumped out at me was a 98 gixxer 750 with full race bodywork for 3500.00 . After I was finished drooling, I asked the parts guy about the bike and he told me that the owner was a pretty good track rider and he had to go back to japan due to issues and he left the bike here for a friend to sell for him. The parts person showed me all of the mods that this guy put into it and and in the motor itself is about 3 grand. I was thinking about buying it and then the guy said that the bike could not be registered of the street due to there being no VIN numbers on the frame and the way you started it was wierd too. There was no key reguired to start it. It was like, all you had to do was flip the ignition kill swith and hit the start botton.
My question is, what does it take to make this bike street ready?
First time bike rider, should I even consider buying this bike with 3 grand in the motor?
If I can't get the bike registered for the street, How do I become the next Matt Maladin? graemlins/idea.gif
