Hey GSXR-Freak,

I think my CCT stopped working properly. The bike makes a loud clicking sound. Between 3-5K rpms is where it sounds the loudest. It started kinda quiet, so I tried to ride home and it got louder, so I stopped and trucked it home.

I assume that's what it is, it's coming from the right side of the motor.

I think I'm going to order a manual one. Where should I order it from? Can I bring the bike down in a couple weeks, and you could help me change it out, and check and adjust the valves while we are at it? I would say earlier, but I'm flat broke until a week from Tuesday.

Since I got the APE manual CCT installed by John..it runs oh so good..cost is about $65.00 including shipping..

I called them up, and ordered it over the phone..

it sure does sound like a screwed CCT, exactly what mine sounded like before ditching it for a manual CCT...

Yea I can help you out... No problem... images/icons/smile.gif Since we have to take the CCT out to adjust the valves, it would be a good time to do it...

Did it make more noise when you would decel?

If you are in good with your dealer, and have the time to wait, you might be able to get them to order it for you, and get a better price... I got mine for like 50 bucks... not much less, but when money is tight, everything helps...

At first it didn't make more sound on decel, in fact, it only made sound under acceleration with a load, I was moving along a 6K rpms, and I could pull in the clutch and keeps the revs the same, but no sound. When I started getting louder, it make a lot more noise on decel.

I'll see if the shop that I can go to all the time can order it, I'm in really good standing with them, so they order all my parts without asking me to pay til delivery, unless I ask them to match an internet price. The owner has a policy that if he matches internet price, he wants you to pay up front, as if you had ordered it on the internet.

The only problem is I'm not sure if he can get that part. What other companies make it besides APE?

How much will you charge me to do this? Other than the pitchers of beer I'm going to buy for you out of extreme gratitude!! images/icons/grin.gif

That's great of you, but I'll glady pay you. I'm not really hard up for money, just my insurance company changed their policy and demanded 50% of the premium up front, and I got hit with a couple big bills, and rent, and all of it had to come out of one check. So I'll have plenty of $$$ come payday.

Hey Rat,
Just to break in on this.
One good way to tell about the CCT is while the bike is idling blip the throttle up to about 6k. Now the clicking will get faster with the engine. When you let off on the throttle the clicking slows down but at a more sloppy pace than the engine.
You can also take off your valve cover and the Cam Chain Top Guide and see if the cam chain has slack in it.

Yosh also makes a Manual CCT images/icons/smile.gif I got mine from ape though.
