An old lady failed to give way and i t-boned her at 30mph, smashed the front light fairings etc, but what worries me is the forks and frame, what process needs to be done to check these items? i dont trust the local bike shop to do a proper check as i havent had any dealing with them before. Also should the front wheel be checked for fractures etc?
Appreciated.

An easy quick check is to to take two straight rods and place one through the front axle, one through the rear axle.
Set the wheel straight as you can and do a simple measurement. A gixxer should be around 55". This is one way to check if the front is pushed in.
You can also put one of the rods through the swingarm pivot and measure from there to the front axle on each side. They should be pretty close in measurement. This can help check for twists.
Last, you can take a pair metal rods (straight of course) and place on the front and back of the your forks. Then sight straight down to see if they line up with the rod you placed through the front axle. This can tell you if the forks are twisted/bent or have a twist in the triple.
This is a REALLY ROUGH way to check.
As for the wheel, put it up on a stand and give it a good spin, while sighting it with one eye. See if it wobbles in your sight. Do this one both sides and check the brake rotors as well.
The BEST was is to take it to a GMD shop for measurement. Its affordable and can really give you peace of mind to make sure stuff is done right.
Hmmm. . . I'm starting to think I've crashed my bikes too many times. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
