Back in March during a race weekend in NM I unfortunately lost the front while entering a corner at roughly 100mph. The bike cartwheeled and pretty much everything was bent or destroyed, or so I thought. Anyway, I didn't know if the forks were damaged (turns out they were actually ok) so I purchased another set of 03 GSXR750 forks off ebay for $150.
I've heard that the valving in the 750 forks is actually pretty good. I'm sure the springs are too soft but that's easy to change. I would like to know if anybody has had good luck changing the valve stack (or does it need it) and what washers were used on both rebound and compression. Also need to know what oil weight to use with this application (I'm guessing 5w). How much internal preload is recommended? I'll probably use .95's or .925 set-up.
I weigh about 200lbs with gear. Forks will be extended and it's for a race only application.
