It's a temperamental/intermittent problem as it sometimes will - usually when the bike's first started, but after it's been revved through a few gears it won't go into neutral or first when I slow down/stop at a junction. I've tried adjusting the clutch cable at the handlebar & adjusting the angle of the selector on it's spline but no joy. It's about 2000m since last oil change & It's never been crashed or dropped. Help, someone!
...are you holding the clutch in as you slow down from 2nd or 3rd or higher gears...then try to switch to first after you have stopped? If you are stuck like that, try rocking the bike back and forth while you are stopped, blip the throttle, then switch...otherwise, get to neutral BEFORE you come to a complete stop...
hope that helps...
I get a bit of that [N>1st, or 1st>N] when the bike's warming up on the first ride of the day.
I developed two methods of getting the gear i need
1) If in N, i release clutch, then pull in again. That'll let me click down into first.
2) If in 1st and going up to N, i push the bike forward while clicked the shifter up a notch, and that'll usually get me into gear.
Or maybe u should use a lower viscosity oil, so it's not so thick in those low temps, esp since you're in the UK images/icons/wink.gif
