Bought this car when I got out of college, always wanted one and figured "what the hell?" Sold my 00 gsx-r 750 to fund part of it. This is how it sat when I bought it, horrible wheels and the slowest small block in history, even with 4.10's it still sucked.
a tribute to the bike I sold first off

and on to the car as it arrived

Bought new wheels and drag radials thinking I had a quick car. The car ran so poorly at the track that it was pathetic, decided that it was time to suck it up and have a motor built that would actually go. First up though was modifying a popular ricer decal to send a friendly jab their way.

My friends dad owns a restoration shop two houses up from my parents where my car was living at the point, without the help of him, his brothers and father I never would have gotten it to this stage.
This is also when the shit hit the fan with this car. Upon initial startup the motor ran fine, all was well. I started the car to drive it two houses up the street so we could modify my headers, started fine than began to smoke. As it was a new motor I knew it was going to smoke so whatever. Pulled into his driveway and my antifreeze overflow bottle started to shoot fluid at the windshield (didn't have the hood on yet). I shut it off instantly and we pushed the car up to the shop. Pulled off the valve covers and voila! Milky oil. Motor at this point had 50 yards on it. Assumed it was the head gasket. Pulled the heads off the car and that wasn't the cause, noticed a crack in cyl 7. Excellent, my life savings down the tubes I thought. We ended up tig welding the crack back together and re-assembling the motor and put it back into the car. It would run but sounded super flat. After another few wasted sundays we noticed that the engine builder had the cam off a tooth so no matter how we spun the cap on the distributor it would never run right. Fixed that issue and finally got the damn thing on the road.
Car ran ok but still felt super slow and had a massive oil leak as well as blow-by from the drivers side valve cover. After months of fighting these problems with potential fixes I just last weekend wrapped them up. Installed a PCV valve and a new fuel pump. My old holley pump had rotted seals and was allowing oil to squirt out onto the headers and the ground. It also became known with the install of the new pump that it was total garbage, the car has three times as much power now as it ever has. Once I get a neutral safety switch in as well as a dynotune the car will be ready to race again. Motor SHOULD be good for mid 12's n/a with 3.42's in a full weight car.
