Whats up Pete!

Just wondering what you recommend for ride heights, front and rear, for racing my new '04 750. I use Michelin tires. The forks have been extended.

Mahalo!

Hi Kim,

It's been a while since we talked, but I've seen your name in the results for the last few years. I guess you got tired of all the nice Hawaii weather huh? I can't recommend ride heights for any bike becuase I never keep track. I never measure how much fork sticks out of the clamp or shock length or subframe to axle, those are reference marks for a particular chassis, but can't be transfered to another bike. There are too many other variables involved. Just the slop in the subframe mounting bolts can be 5-10 mm. Every geometry job we do is measured and set up for each chassis and rider. Just 2 or 3 mm difference in height can be the diference between a sweet handling race bike and worst piece of junk you ever tried to ride! Ask davegsxrold929 about last week end. Where are the bikes kept in the states? Maybe we can get them over to a GMD shop near by. let me know.

Hi Pete,
I understand what you are saying. I'll start conservatively and go from there.
The difficult part is that while I still live in Hawaii, I keep my bikes in the San Francisco area. So test and tune days are pretty much non-existent. I fly up for AFM races and the Calif. rounds of AMA, but that is pretty much it.
I'm not sure if Computrak Milipitas is still up and running? I could probably get a measurement there but who knows when I'll have time. We'll see...
