BOUGHT NEW SPROCKET AND CHAIN FOR MY 98 GSXR 600. WENT WITH THE 520 CONVERSION. I JUST WANTED TO CHECK IS THIS A PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD SWAP OR IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO WATCH FOR?

THANKS,

KaTz

It's pretty straight forward. I did mine a couple of mths ago.

The only hurdle is the countershaft nut. Some ppl have experienced a very tight nut, which required a long breaker bar + pipe extension to loosen, or the employment of an impact wrench.

But on my bike, it came off with a standard 1" drive wrench images/icons/grin.gif

Make sure u got the chain clamp and riveting tool, or else it's a pain in the arse.

If u need more details, just post images/icons/smile.gif

I did the same on my 98 600 and went up some in the back and one down in the front....talk about fun!

I just did the same a couple weeks ago. I did mine at the shop so I had all the tools there graemlins/bounce.gif . I had aluminum sprockets before, but just doing the 520 (no change in tooth count) did make a difference-not a huge but noticable. I also got a +3 rear sprocket that I am going to use at the track to keep up with the damn 750's images/icons/rolleyes.gif images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/grin.gif
